Spoilers Batwoman - Season 1

"There's probably 17 ways that the GCPD can let me know that they need me, but that's not what the Batsignal does, the Batsignal lets everyone know that I am coming."

Even if the commish buckles, and wants to acknowledge homosexuality, why the ###k is the commissioner going to light up the Batsignal, if she's already there out the front of Gotham Plaza having a rally?

It was on actual paper, the first time they mentioned it Mary threw it on the table when they were going through Beth's tuff.

Minor note, but some of us don't watch these on the same day, so please kindly spoiler tag stuff from other shows for at least a week or so, so that people have a chance to catch up. I don't personally mind, but it would be courteous to others.

Pre-Crisis, yes. Post-Crisis, maybe not. Beth has the same photo, and she describes Luke as working for Bruce the same way Luke-99 did.

Maybe one of those pesky villains knocked out all communication in Gotham at some point so it was all they had, and then it kinda stuck after that.

I admit I'm puzzled as to how exactly Kate explained the "other" Beth to Mary if it didn't involve the multiverse.

At the end, Mary independently comes up with this "crazy" theory about multiple Earths getting smooshed together, which does beg the question of what the "official" explanation for the second Beth was.

As for the Bat-Signal, I kinda split the difference in my most recent Bat-Novel. The Bat-Signal alerts Batman that he's needed (because . . . tradition!), but then he scans GCPD communications to figure out where he's needed.

I think it would have been interesting if they had not given Beth the Alice hair style.

I don't think Mary expected Kate to have an explanation, I'm sure she thought this was as weird to her as it was to everyone else.

Speaking of her multiple Earth theory though, Zoom season of The Flash had a whole bunch of doppelgangers visiting form Earth-2, but I don't recall if the existence of a parallel Earth became public knowledge then(i.e. did Iris write an article about it? :D)

Retroactively since the Oliver gave birth to this new multiverse, the physics has been different.

Extrapolators don't work, because the physics are wrong, because the Universe was created differently.

As far as the native Cisco to the Earth Prime knew, before he was enveloped and murdered by the Cisco from earth One, multidimensional Earth Hopping was an impossible thing that could not happen because it was not real, so no one could written about it in a news paper.

Which doesn't explain Siren or Nash Wells at all.

I saw that bit just recently in a '40s or '50s Batman comic excerpted online somewhere, and it stood out for me too. Not a very precise way of giving directions, is it?

I think I remember reading one story where the Bat-Signal swept out the shapes of numbers in the sky as a way of telling Batman where to go, but I don't recall what the numbers represented (maybe a street intersection, or maybe some predetermined code between Gordon and Batman).

Okay, new CW-DCTVU map says their current version of Gotham is on the western shores of Lake Michigan...? Guessing that Bludhaven is part of that shoreline as well now?

Apparently taking the place of Chicago, where parts of the show are filmed. Gotham, of course, was always a surrogate New York City (Gotham has been one of NYC's nicknames since the 19th century), but it's been associated with Chicago ever since the Nolan Bat-films were partly shot there (even though they were also shot in London and other cities).

Meanwhile, if anyone's curious, Star City seems to be in place of Portland, National City is somewhere between LA and San Francisco, and Metropolis is maybe somewhere around Philadelphia. Although those placements may be approximate, since it was a hand-drawn map and Cisco put Freeland, GA too far east.
 
I noticed that Cisco didn't put his own city (Central City) on the map...Maybe he's trying to figure out where the new cities plopped down (National City, Metropolis, Gotham and Freeland are the new ones). Possibly, Star City and the other preexisting cities moved positions or got snuffed out, too.
 
Well, since Cisco and his entire audience for the map were from and/or in Central City, it stands to reason that he didn't think they needed to be reminded where they were.

No, just National City and Freeland. Batwoman has been on Earth-1 from the start, and Julia Pennyworth mentioned Metropolis in a pre-Crisis episode. Although the post-Crisis Metropolis is probably closer to the Earth-38 version, since it includes Superman.
 
There's no reason to assume National City and Freeland are "new," either. Just because they weren't mentioned doesn't mean they didn't exist on Earth-1. Earth-1 obviously had many thousands of cities and towns that didn't happen to be referenced in dialogue.

It is kind of interesting to note, however, that references to Gotham popped up on Black Lightning immediately after "Crisis," when it had never been mentioned before. Of course, that doesn't prove it didn't exist on BL's original Earth, but the coincidental timing might be intended to suggest it.
