Battle footage in Call to Arms Stock?

Has anyone noticed that the DS9 battle footage fighting the klingons in TWOTW is exactly the same as in call to arms. It looked to me like the edited out the klingon ships and edited in cardassion and dominion ships.

What do you think?

There were some shots, such as the station's phaser and torpedo arrays firing that were reused. Also, shots from VOY's Caretaker and DS9's The Search pt1 were reused.

A couple of shots were, as you said, edited to replace Klingon ships with Jem'hadar fighters.

But the majority of the footage was new.

It's probably not so much editing out the Klingons. The station and the ships would have mostly been filmed seperately and then combined in post-production. They probably used the shots of the station from before they added the Klingon ships.

Just to exp[and:

If you look at the shots and positions of the dominion and cardassian ships that attack and are destroyed, it is in the same sequence and position as the klingon ships in TWOTW.

For example, there is one shot of a cardassian ship flying over the top of the station from right to left and it is destroyed by one phaser blast. in warrior, as BoP is destroyed in the exact same position in the same sequence, by one shot.

when the second wave of attack comes, it is in the same sequence and postion of the negh'var pitching down toward the station, firing.

and so on, and so forth...

Does this make more sense?

Cheers,

CDP

If they're using station footage that was first combined with Klingon ship footage and then combined with Dominion/Cardassian ship footage, they'd have to re-create the same camera move with the Dominion/Cardassian ship footage or it wouldn't match.

If they still had the original shots before they were composited together, they could conceivably composite Dominion ships where Klingons had been previously. As I understand it, though, the process is not cheap--not that any special effects ever are. :)

Its the same with Favour The Bold and What you Leave Behind, many shots in that were reused...especially exploding Miranda ships
