Batman with Ben Affleck-- Rumors, pic, etc;

I think he means Affleck will start production a year and a half from now, which will be March 2018.

He's still working on Live By Night and will soon go into production on Witness for the Prosecution. That would mean The Batman would be released around November 2019, which is a previously announced release date for as-yet-unrevealed WB/DC movie.

It's funny because I feel like this has been one of the longest drumrolls ever for any solo superhero film. People were speculating about Affleck writing & directing his own Batman movie ever since he was cast in 2013, over three years ago. It was officially announced this summer. If my estimates are correct, we won't actually get The Batman for another 3 years.

Hopefully it lives up to the anticipation.

Is it officially called "The Batman" at this point or is that still just the name that the internet wants?

Affleck should use this for reference, to be in keeping with tradition.

We knew Batman and Superman's new movies would be coming soon, just not on any official schedule. With how crowded superhero properties are becoming (3 MCU films a year now till Infinity War), the rest of the DC slate and wherever Fox chooses to place their X properties, I wonder where they (Bats and Supes) will be squeezed in.

Joe Manganiello researching DeathStroke. As expected there's some Arkham Origin material he'll take a look at.

^ have to be honest that I think he'll do well in the role. He definitely has the physicality for it.

Why Deathstroke.

This is exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about when I say that forcing characters into a no-killing mold kills the creative process. '

Historically, this is true in film and print. To be clear, heroes can remain heroes and kill--if justified (in other words, the opposite of the murderous attitude of certain "protagonists" on The Walking Dead TV series). Would anyone think a "no-killing" policy would serve Luke Skywalker or Captain Kirk? Both have the blood of innumerable lives on their hands, yet the acts and situations leading to it were justified--playing a significant part in elevating their heroic status. Heroes do kill, and to want them to essentially be the animated Super Friends removes the fact that in serving justice / in the grip of conflict, killing might be necessary. While all heroes do not kill, that "policy" should not be applied across the board, as in reality, the needs of characters are not born of some politicized need for heroes to always carry the olive branch.

So Affleck's film is gonna be called The Batman? Biggest surprise ever. :P

It's a good title, short but sweet. It also helps it has never been used for a Batman movie before. Deathstroke is also a more physical villain alongside the likes of Bane, so he will pose for some interesting fight sequences. If anything, as much as I love Nolan's Batman films the fight sequences always left something to be desired.

Fun little tidbit: Harry Gregson-Williams has composed all of the scores for Affleck's movies besides Argo, which was composed by Alexandre Desplat. With Hans Zimmer officially retiring from scoring superhero movies after Batman v Superman and Junkie XL taking over the musical reigns with Justice League, Gregson-Williams is the likely frontrunner to be the next person to tackle the Caped Crusader from a musical standpoint. I'm a little lukewarm over Gregson-Williams as a composer; his other big superhero contribution was X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but then again he didn't have much to work with there.

On the plus side: Robert Richardson, often Quentin Tarantino cinematographer who's shot everything from Kill Bill to Inglourious Basterds to Shutter Island, is the DP for Affleck's latest Live By Night. I'm foaming at the mouth imagining what an Affleck-directed, Richardson-shot Batman movie would look like.

It will be: Ben Affleck's The Batman.

Cos he is. ;)

That will be the title after The Weinstein Company retaliates for Warner's lawsuit forcing The Butler to become Lee Daniels' The Butler, with their own countersuit claiming the rights to the word The in all movie titles.

The Batman is coming! The Batman is coming!

You wonder when he has time to sleep.

Affleck is done with the Filming of his scenes in "Justice League" He is now in the states doing interviews related to "The Accountant", putting the finishing touches to "Live by Night" and maybe fine tuning the Batman script

You'd think he was Batman ;) He should stop working nights

There's something spooky and epic about just saying "The Batman", as opposed to just Batman.
