Based only on events up to the end of Voyager, what could happen to all Voyager main characters after the ship got home (also in alternate timelines)?

Everyone from Deep Space Nine cast got at least one promotion... Even Ezri Dax, who was just for one season! And Nog, in the last episode!

The only major characters in the first four shows who weren't either promoted or offered promotion were:
- Harry, who was hit with the potentially career-killing combination of 7 years as an ensign and an unjustified reprimand.
- Beverly, who might have turned down a serious promotion to return to the Enterprise. We don't know what rank she was given during her Y2 absence.
- Data, who was arguably shafted worst of all: stuck at LCDR for 15 years despite saving the Federation on two occasions that we know of.

Starfleet Academy has partially answered that question:

  • Janeway and Harry Kim are both Admirals.
  • Seven, Tuvok, and Chakotay are now Captains. (Picard, Prodigy)
  • Tom Paris was promoted to full Lieutenant.
  • B'Elanna was promoted to Lieutenant Commander
  • Neelix went back to his people.
  • Ensign Samantha Wildman was promoted to Commander

Harry an Admiral??????????

Has Oddish done some time travel, become President of the Federation and ordered Starfleet to promote Harry to become Admiral? ;)

In which year is this happening?

True. Data's on the wall as a lieutenant commander. Picard could at least have granted him promotion posthumously.

Still, if Harry made admiral in his lifetime, it's a safe bet that he was promoted upon Voyager's return, and rapidly after that.

He was a Lieutenant in Prodigy.
He was cut from Prodigy.

But yeah, that's kind of obvious. Even if Janeway was unwilling to promote him, Starfleet command undoubtedly did right after Voyager got home. But as long as it didn't happen in a movie or show, his canonical rank was still ensign.

It should not have taken 31 years to set right this particular wrong... but at least it got done, and with authority.
Better late than ever.
Just like John Fogerty who after 50 years after the record company forced him to give the rights of his songs to them finally got them back.

You are right, but count your blessings. Wrongs in Star Trek rarely gets righted.
Unfortunately not.
And they get worse for each year.

Starfleet Academy takes place in the Disco S5 era (32nd century).
Just the mentioning of Disco made me lose interest in this new series. If it is based on DSC, then I hade strong doubts about it. I would have liked to see a Starfleet Academy series from from the 24th century.

He must have had friends high up in the hierarchy.

He was a Lieutenant in Prodigy.

The man had a career after Voyager.

He was cut from Prodigy.

I will keep him as Lieutenant in my stories, I don't want to split up the Voyager crew.

Owen Paris, maybe. Harry's bestie was his son, after all. Or maybe Janeway herself.

I did see that some screenshot or other stated that he was a lieutenant on either Dauntless or Voyager-A. Couldn't find it myself, though.

Remember that he's 29 when Voyager gets home, and Starfleet officers regularly serve well past what we consider retirement age. Harry could average only one promotion every five years and still be a full admiral by age 74. That allows for plenty of time as a member of Janeway's crew.

I've read that he was on Dauntless.

Alex Kurtzman has said that he made SFA with the intention of reflecting the struggles that young people are going through right now (economic upheaval, post-9/11, the Trump era, etc.).

He didn't think it was appropriate to set SFA in the happy happy, joy joy halcyon era of the 24th century.

Janeway: Promoted to Admiral, oversees borg defense and new engine developments.

Chakotay: Leaves starfleet and becomes meditation teacher and spiritual guide.

Torres: Works directly under Janeway in engine development, makes the quantum slipstream drive work.

Paris: Stay at home dad and part time test pilot.

Seven: Starts exploring life in the alpha quadrant, is bored to death and returns to work for Janeway as a civilian. Moves in next door to Torres and Paris and becomes a weird but funny aunt to Miral.

The Doctor: Makes big plans for his new life but the mobile emitter is immediately confiscated by starfleet because it's future tech. He gets a new mobile emitter but because the technology isn't sufficiently miniaturized in the 24th century he has to push it around in a shopping cart.

Tuvok: Retires and returns to Vulcan to be with his family.

Kim: On the first day back in the alpha quadrant he finds a little box on his chair, opens it and sees a golden pip, Janeway says "This is your new pip ensign, the old one wasn't so shiny anymore!", Harry loses it and punches Janeway in the face before she can tell him it was a joke and that he has been promoted to full Lieutenant. He's court-martialed and demoted back to ensign.
