Bar 'n' Grill - Part II

Hello Dsz and tomalak301, thanks for the welcome! *clinks glasses* :D

I don't think I missed any of the really classic eps, though I might have missed a couple that contributed to ongoing story arcs ... Sky did omit most of the Ferengi ones, but that's not a HUGE loss, heh.

Dsz, you should totally watch Spaced! The "plot" is basically about these odd slackers who live together - and the style is really zany, full of pop culture references and completely off the wall. It's great because the comedians in it are so talented, as well ... :)

I need to watch more Firefly! I caught some of the eps on the Sci-Fi channel, but haven't seen the additional ones on the DVD ... Haven't been able to see Serenity either, local cinema is awful. I remember Nathan Fillion from Two Guys and a Girl ... and now he's like the new Han Solo.

I'd better be off to bed though ... but shall be back. And will order a copy of A Stitch in Time asap too - am suffering from severe DS9 withdrawal symptoms, and the books do sound great!

Good night ... :)

^It'll make him forget about his sore throat at least... :D

I really like Spaced as well, I just haven't seen any in a criminally long time!

Welcome, Llanita! Hope you have fun catching up on some of the DS9 episodes you missed.

I'm currently finishing up watching the Firefly episodes. I can't believe how awesome that show is! I love the characters, I love the dialogue, I love the action, I love the plot....It's unbelievable! I don't understand why they cancelled that show...

If you're suffering from DS9 withdrawal, there's no better cure than to read the relaunch. Awesome books that introduce some great characters and also give you the chance to keep up with the old familiar ones. You're lucky that you have the opporunity to read so many of them in a row. Waiting for the next one to come out is always such agony!

IMHO it's the best SF series finale of the lot.
Completely and utterly agreed. At least as good as What You Leave Behind, if not better (not that I should admit that in here :p). Absolutely perfect episode.

Welcome aboard Llanita! :)

^ Romulan Ale. :D

But you'll most likely end up with a huge hangover, so probably not the best idea.

Well, like the poster said, at least i would forget about the sore throat. *gets Romulan Ale* To one of the many benefits of the new alliance.

Yes, i have been watching Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges.

Wow, this is an event - Steven agreeing with me about something! Although you had to qualify it, didn't you? :p

G'day, Llanita. :) I hope you enjoy the board. :D

Get it. :D

The first part of the season is a bit...ordinary...but the rest is up there with just about anything else in the series. And you have to see "Sleeping in Light".

Get it. :D

I pretty much agree with you, SB. Sleeping in the Light is one of the few times in scifi where I cry and is a great episode.

It alone is probably worth getting season 5 for.

However, the first part of season 5 is, IMO, a bit worse than ordinary. That whole storyline with Byron makes it practically unbearable for me to watch. And Lannier doesn't help either. :(

IMO, season 5 is by far the most uneven season of the show. When it was good, it was VERY good. But when it was bad during this season, it was really difficult to watch, IMO.

Oh...and BigFoot, I'm sending good karma your way about your job!!!! And your hand!

Thanks Vash. :)I actually worked a full 8-hour work-day today, and my boss was quite impressed by that. So yeah, while the cast is a real nuissance and hy hand hurts, I'm not worried about keeping my job anymore. :)

EDIT: typo

^ I fractured a small bone in my wrist several years ago, and it hurt like hell, so I feel for you. :(

I also managed to break the top of my humerous four years ago. It snapped clean across at the top. My god that hurt.

I was going for the polite version. ;) We're trying to encourage GG to buy S5, after all, not run away screaming. :D

Good point.

I guess that I think Byron is so unbearably annoying that I don't want anyone who watched B5 on my recommendation thinking I actually *like* that guy! :p

I mean, he was so unbearable that I could barely stand to watch...even though the actor who played him was really pretty good looking!

You know the character is bad if I won't watch an actor who is *that* good looking! Shoot...I'm the one who used to watch Andromeda with the sound turned off so I could watch Keith Hamilton Cobb, without all the annoying Sorbo-centric dialogue and plotlines ruining it for me. :guffaw:

Congratulations BigFoot and thanks for the Canar…after a long drive it really hit the spot. Here’s hoping everyone has a super Thanksgiving holiday.

I think you know my opinion of Boredom - err, Byron. :D

But once you get past those episodes the season isn't so bad. We must focus on the good stuff here. ;)

Yep. And the last several episodes leading up to the end are great. And the end is fantastic.

As I said earlier...it would be worth the cost of the set, just to be able to watch Sleeping in the Light whenever I wanted a good tear-jerker! :)

*sobs* yup ... it made me cry as well, I'll gladly admit it. I watched it with SB once over IM ... we needed the box of tissues ;)
I think Autumn is turning dark enough to rev up that series again. I also need to do a LOTR marathon.

I don't know how much I'll be on tomarrow, but I just wanted to wish you all a very happy and safe Thanksgiving. I hope you guys have a great time, and for those who don't celebrate thanksgiving tomarrow (Thursday), enjoy the day anyway. :)

Thanks stkids, Steven and SB! :)

I really want to watch more sci-fi now, hearing all these conversations ...! Have missed so many series due to uni (no TV of my own, arg) ...

Right. B5 and Firefly are SO on my list.

Gah, almost forgot! *swigs kanar* Heh, that's better.

If you haven't seen any B5 before, a good place to start is the pilot movie, The Gathering. Also, don't give up on season one, because it is patchy compared with later seasons, but sets things in motion nicely and still has some excellent episodes.

*grabs a bottle of Andorian Ale*

Seasons 2, 3 and 4 are mostly brilliant and you've already heard our thoughts on season 5. ;)
