I'm making a DS9 av for the next contest

Hey cool!!!

Thanks for posting them. Could I use one sometime?

And is your current avatar the one for the new contest?

Sure you can :)

And, yeah, it's for this week's "Greatest Numbers in SF/F" contest. Still have to tweak it though .... I'm never satisfied :D

^ Your current avatar looks great. How long did you work on it? It looks very labor intensive.

Yes, yes I am and I haven't even seen Evolution yet, hehe. It's coming out on DVD on June 6th I believe though and I plan to get it right away. :)
I have seen it last week and as a fan of the first movie (in fact I own the 2-DVD version), Evolution was a absolute and utter disappointment. Brain dead sequel that uses action and sex to compensate for the very bad story telling. There were some good moments, but they were few and far between. Even Kate Beckinsale and Bill Nighy couldn't save it. :(

Thanks

It used to take me days (that's a couple of hours per day .. not the whole day, lol), but I wipped this one up in a matter of hours. It's mostly trial and error .. which is mostly because I'm very picky and I want all the right effects .. so I don't mind throwing away work I spent precious time on. That and the ripping of animations and looking for the right images can take some time. I'll probably spend an hour (maybe two) on it tonight to revamp it .. who knows .. it might look totally different when I'm done :D
I need new footage of that last bit with DS9 spinning .. plus it's still too busy, so I need to do something about that as well.
And of course .. every new thing means I have to redo every final frame in the animation .... :D But that's mostly clicking on and off layers in photoshop and then copying the new frame to my gif animator.

Well, I'm hoping that I'll like it. I have a feeling I will, but then I could watch Kate just standing still for two hours straight. :D

Just got back from seeing V for Vendetta. Awesome flick!

It was quite amusing to see John Hurt playing the Big Brother character in this, since he starred as Winston in 1984. :)

Hey all, I don't want to put this in the B5 thread since it's a little ahead of where we're at... but I picked up "The Legend of the Rangers" today. It was... okay. Not overly bad, but not all that good either. There were certainly a few :wtf: moments, like the firing system on the ship. :wtf:

Meh, it was a way to waste an hour and a half. :p

Well, Jammer and I now have something in common, we're both in the field if journalism.

I just got back from an interview where I got hired as a news correspondent. The pay isn't that great, quite frankly, but I can work at home and at least it actually has something to do with what I studied in college.

Congratulations on the new job, Lord Garth! With any luck (and presumably some effort), there will be opportunities for advancement and you won't be stuck with the low pay for too long. But working from home must be nice!
