How? How is USS Nog any different than a USS Picard, USS Janeway, USS Decker, USS Pike, USS Sulu, etc?
Because it's also a word (as in "egg nog") and because he has no last name, I guess?
No idea what it means in Ferengi, but being a single syllable, I'd have to assume it's a common name. It would be like naming something after John Adams but naming it the USS John.
