Bad Starship Names

I wonder if Garth could possibly turn up on SNW. I don't think the accident has happened yet (2259).
Interestingly, I don't think the Kurtzman team shares that mindset. Not only was Garth left out of the (stupidly-short) list of decorated captains in DIS episode 1.05, but the late and great DaveGalanter wrote the DIS season 1-season 2 interquel novel Dead Endless to mention the Antos incident as having already transpired by 2257 of a similar parallel reality.

For my part, I hope future canon will prove that stone has not yet been set.

He's famous in the US not the UK. Had to look up who he was when Riker mentioned him in a Trek comic (from context treachery was obvious, but details).
As a side note, apart from the aircraft carriers, most UK ships are named after a class type: counties, cities, etc.
The nuclear launch subs are another exception, with an initial V.

Ooooo, V-ships, huh?
ISS Vendetta
ISS Vengeance
ISS Vicious
ISS Vanquisher
ISS Vindicator
ISS Violator
ISS Violent
ISS Virulence
ISS Voracious

The nuclear launch subs are Vanquish, Vengeance and two more. Vigil in fiction, but all V.

As a side, from Bleak Expectations, an admiral describes the fleet: "HMS Repulsive, HMS War, HMS What's It Good for?", Hms Absolutely Nothing, hms f the French, and hms f the English."
"Captured that one off the French, needs renaming."

Correction: Vanguard, Victorious, Vigiliant and Vengeance.
I suspect that Vanquish, like Conquerer, was a nuke-powered, but not armed, sub back in the 80s Falklands Conflict.

Why? I just reckoned that Picard attended a snooty boarding school in the UK and during the years he was there, he acquired the local accent.
Picard Season 2 says the Picard family only returned to the Chateau centuries after WW2, so it's possible Picard is only part of the first or second generation, so he just got the accent from his Parents and grandparents.

HMS Pinafore, a show I did once, was about a Brutish warship named after a little girl's garment. In honor of this, we will name other ships after children's attire...

USS Activewear
USS Oshkosh
USS Footies
USS Onesie
USS Pinafore

USS Socks-and-Sandals is the punishment detail given to those who are transferred away from other punishment assignments for being too hard to work with.

I'm going by what I saw in TNG. I don't watch Picard.

Besides, we saw him speak French in several TNG episodes. It's reasonable to assume he's fully bilingual.

As for clothing-themed starship names:

USS Lost Single Sock
USS Bunny Slippers
USS Baseball Cap
USS Toque
USS Mittens
USS Christmas Sweater
USS Nobody On This Ship Wears Red
