Bad Robot add 6 films to upcoming slate. None of which are Star Trek :(

Star Trek must end.

On the bright side maybe that means Paramount will contract with someone else to continue making Star Trek movies. It's the gem in their crown, even if they haven't figured out how to sell it properly. Or barring that, maybe they'll just sell the franchise back to CBS if they're not going to use it, anyway.
Bad Robot has nothing to do with the lack of a 4th film, it's because of Paramount trying to go cheap and losing their bankable stars. There was a director, a script, and a cast. If they had done things right we could have been looking forward to a Star Trek movie next year.
What I wonder now is how long before Paramount does something with the license again. I would assume they have to produce something within a certain amount of time or it will revert back to CBS and I doubt they would want that.

I'm no expert but I don't believe that's how the rights work with Star Trek. This isn't a Sony and Spider-man situation.

The problem was even if they had done things right, there was no reason to think there would be much interest in the film compared to Beyond. The actors are all now in bigger productions and rightly expect to be paid better, but Star Trek hasn't been the money winner Paramount was hoping it would be. Best to start over.

Hmmm... All this discussion has made me ravenous for another Kelvinverse movie!

So much so, I’ve started pulling out my STID hot wheels starships and zooming them around, in the hope of somehow willing another movie into existence - as illogical as that patently is! :D

I need more action figures!

The JJ films changed the way we talk about Trek.

This may well be the least important thing in the world.

I understand that's sad news to some of you, but for others it's great. If there's never another JJTrek movie, it will be too soon.

Be cheered in the knowledge that the next theatrical version of Trek will have even less in common with the old stuff than JJTrek did. ;)

I hear Overlord is good. Looks like Nazi Zombies to me, without the cool guns of course.

Yeah, I have no idea about the specifics of the agreement between the two companies. It was just a bit of hearsay I picked up a while back that seemed to make sense.

The only thing I have managed to note for certain regarding the division of Star Trek rights is that it is complicated. There does not appear to be any reversion of rights clause at play.

A bit disgruntled if there aren't any more, though I have all three of the films on disc. A good group of movies that Paramount badly mismanaged.

Discovery isn't my cup of tea, but I don't want it to end. Lots of people here seem to enjoy it. At the very least, its existence has helped me appreciate the older stuff more than I did a few years ago.

I thought they'd do four of them. But at least they have a trilogy.

Looking forward to Quentin Tarantino's Star Trek film in 2020-Something.
