Didn't they have the closet cop-out scene where Kira and Odo talked about the whole thing (not that we actually got to hear the conversation, of course)? You know, the episode with Jadzia and Worf's wedding? That's the closest we got to any kind of reprecussions or resolution.

that doesn't make much sense. Just because some folks MIGHT be unhappy with the end result you don't try?

Plus, they did a whole episode on Nog losing his leg. That's right-a whole episode devoted to a secondary character losing a leg that he gets replaced.

Odo, a main character, one of the biggest, betrays his friends in a major way during war, and gets... an off-screen conversation.

no, the chronology is off. "IOAPM" came in season 7. "BTL" was season six.

that's why I made the point. They did it with Nog later. Why couldn't they do it with Odo?

My point is that they opted to take one risk by handling the Odo situation as they did, and another by handling the Nog situation the way they did.

I consider the Nog episode good, while others do not.
I consider the way they handled the Odo situation a reasonable if frustrating and curiosity-provoking approach, while others do not.

ah. I see. Well, I'm with the ones who didn't like "IOAPM," but not because it was a daring episode that spent some time on a character issue. Rather, I thought Nog's trauma was over the top for an era when your leg could be effortlessly replaced with no ill effect. It just wasn't that big of a deal.


In contrast, Odo's actions during the occupation WERE clearly a big deal.(Kira even said that they were "way past sorry.") They practically demanded serious consequences. If they weren't going to do that, then they shouldn't have had that character arc.

I have to believe losing a leg would be traumatic under any circumstance. And certainly for a species like the Ferengi who were not a warrior race. I think that statement glosses over what Nog went through.

I guess. Still, they made it seem like the leg was a 100% replacement.

I heard they were planning something more signficant than an off-screen convo but that it got cut for time or something.

The Federation let all the Cardassians got off easy even though they should have got some punishment. Did not even execute or arrest a single Cardassian Leader, just because the Cardies got backstabbed.

Some mistrust of course.

Damar and Broca were killed by the Dominion. But I do agree that the war criminals needed to be punished.

Yeah I mean really the Bajorans patched things up with Cardassians and they did not even get a single war criminal convicted absolutely absurd.

To be fair we have no idea what the terms of the treaty ultimately were. That said I find it highly improbable that the Federation engaged in executions by the time of DS9.

I totally buy that Odo would become a member of the Dominion.

Odo didn't have jack to say to refute Laas' points about how solids are messed up - because Laas is right.

Odo coming to his senses would be to become even more accepting of Laas' POV.

I wouldn't call that a "Bad Odo," though. Laas wasn't bad, and neither would be an Odo who is fully on board with Laas.
