They dress all in black and use organic technology? Who do we already know dresses all in black and uses organic technology? The technomages were not a third party in the shadow war, they were conscientious objectors, guilty of being serious bastards over the course of the last million years, but who were now, finally sick of the Shadows shit, and wanted to sit this war out and probably the next one too.
Of course in the books, it's been a thousand years, and no Technomage still alive in 2259 remembers that they work exclusively, loyally and without reservation for the Shadows, they are morons who think that they are the good guys, even though they have no idea where their technology comes from and cannot build more. The have to harvest their organic technology from their own dead, and pass it on to the next generation, which would restrict their birthrate.
