B5: What untold stories would you like to see?

I want to see the humans party on the Vorlon Homeworld in a million years time.

I can just Imagine Mr. Sebastian's reaction when two drunk humans accidentally wake him up, when they're looking for a dark corner to snog in:

"Drat. I thought I was dead."

I kind of had a problem with the whole Vorlon Homeworld story. What was so special about it? Especially after the humans had evolved that far (to the point where they were very similar to Vorlons themselves), I don't see the point of finally being allowed to travel to Vorlon space.

Remember how Anna said time was different on Za'ha'dum? Goodness knows what sort of abnormal properties the Vorlon Home world might have apart from a whole bunch of hibernating organic technology that need new masters and caretakers.

I want to see first contact between the Humans and the Centauri as they lie and lie and lie while trying to pull the other one and subjugate us into their empire.

I think she was just bullshitting. "I didn't come back because I thought it had only been a few weeks" sounds better than "I didn't come back because I was lobotomized, put in a death machine, and spent most of the last four years blowing up narns."

That could well have been what the Shadows essentially programmed into her as a story. And yet... there may be some truth to it. There are all kinds of variations on what happens to people who go to Z'ha'dum. "No one who goes there comes back alive." "No one one who goes there comes back the same." and so on. These are the most ancient of the First Ones, and they have mastered time travel to a certain degree.

Y'know...that rather brings up a rather interesting connection with
the Techno-Mages and Galen in particular in TLT since JMS posted
1) Let us remember that time travel is also a form of technology (which is all I'll say about this for now).
and we saw in the TM triliogy that they use Shadow tech.

Hmmm....

I got the impression from Delenn that the Minbari had Time travel technology themselves since she made a point of saying that the the time hole out near B4 was "unstable".

I want to see that tennis game Garibaldi Jr was going to play in the finale. 1/4 gravity means that the courts would have to be four times the size to keep everything proportionate. Giant steps are what you take when rushing service and the ball bounces half a mile up.

Unless they have Minbari gravitational tech (given that the Victorys use it, I consider this to be fairly likely), and keep the entire compound at full gravity... It certainly didn't look like they were under low gravity in the office. Then again, I don't think it did back in the S4 Mars scenes either!

I want to know what the story is with Justin, who he was, how he came to be Sheridan's opposite number and how he ended up on Z'ha'dum because he definitely wasn't onboard the Icarus.

I think the rational behind the Mars scenes looking like they're at 1G (other than the fact that they are) is that if you live on Mars you adjust to the new gravity and over time you relearn how to walk in the lower gravity well. Oh and just for the sake of being a smart arse, Mars gravity isn't 0.25, I think it's more like 0.38.

As for the Vorlon Homeworld, it was obviously closed off because like Z'ha'dum it's full of scary dangerous crap that could do untold damage if a bunch of unevolved apes start poking around and pushing buttons. So I think the Vorlons effectivly put a time lock on the place that would seal off Vorlon space until the surviving younger races are responsible enough to understand how to use it.

I do wonder though, if JMS actually had an idea for a story that far in the future. I wonder because when Ironheart goes all christmas-tree-man in Mind War, he says he'll see Sinclair again in a million years and there's the thing about Valen disappearing, much like the way SHeridan disappeared AND Delenn having a vision of Valen (who called her one of his children) when she was little. In a nutshell, I think Jeff is still around.
Small aside about the Delenn's vision; I wonder if that's what was going through Delenn's mind in "Soul Hunter" when she's half delirious from blood loss and actually recognisies Sinclair as the Valen from her vision. "we were right, about you."

Oh, interesting little Crusade tidbit for those who didn't read the unshot Crusade scripts (I'll try not to spoil too much) but I think there was mention made that the Excalibur was to have an "opposite number". That is a ship out there with the same Vorlon "death beam", possibly working for that Earthforce Bio-Weapons division that's been behind a surprising amount of shenanigans since B5 season 1. I wonder if there was going to be a Shadow Hybrid Victory at some point. That would have been fun...in a cheesy knight rider/Karr kind of way.

I would have thought that the Warlock class would fill that role quite nicely?

I don't know. The Warlock was public knowledge, not some secret project and while I'm sure it's a step up from the Omega, I don't buy some of the fandom guff about it being half shadow tech, nor do I think it's nearly as powerful as the Victory. On par with the Minbari cruisers, perhaps, but that's about it.

No, not really. The Warlock is a straight-up military ship, everyone knows about it. It's open and public knowledge, it's not secret in any way, and not working for the bad guys.

Although:
The ship that destroyed the Cerberus, leaving then-Ensign Matthew Gideon the only survivor, was a Shadow hybrid. That's why the Technomages showed up so quickly, because they were monitoring it.

Ever read the short story "Hidden Agendas" ?

I can't speak for the relative power levels, but they're definitely laced with Shadowtech per a story JMS wrote ("Hidden Agendas"). Yes, the class is public knowledge--but the Shadowtech components certainly aren't.

I want to see Son's of the new Desert.

ARRRGGGHHHH!

My brain just exploded.

Having stuck on my tape of Day of the Dead to find the quote above, I FINALLY GOT IT! By George i got it! Why Morden came to see Lennir...

"Delenn does not love you as you love her and she never will."

(Processing...)

"Anna did not love Morden as he loved her and she never would."

They both lost out in love with the most perfect woman in the galaxy to that damn John Sheridan.

The Brikiri Gods have a marvelous sense of humour.

Poor bastards.

There was a joke?

I do have in my clutches a copy of "Hidden Agendas" but I've yet to read it. I'm still working my way through "To Dream in a City of Sorrows".
I wouldn't be at all surprised that the Warlock has certain advancements that are a product of shadow tech. After all we know they had their hands on at least two shadow vessels for a time and the "advanced" Omegas looked more like adapted prototypes than actual working production models and I'm sure it's no coincidence that the Warlocks started coming off the production lines JUST as the civil war ended.

You might have more luck with the comic book miniseries "In Valen's Name" which actually does tell us the story about what Sinclair did in the past rather than To Dream in the City of Sorrows which is just about Hanging out on Minbar in the relative present.

I want to see a drunk Minabri.

They kept warning us and warning us about it, but cut short on the money shot.

O.

Suddenly I'm thinking of Alien Nation. How they're transformed into psychos by that drug they used to be given to work harder for their overmasters. Similar effect?

I want to see all about Major Atumbe, the supposed NightShift commander of Babylon 5 who must have been overall third in command of the station who was mentioned a couple times but never seen. I mean, honestly can you imagine what it's like to be this guy/girl who wakes up every morning to find some new sort of bollocks hell has taken place and he/she has to keep the ship steering straight...

"We Acceded? Get the frak out of town! Why am I the last person to be told about this stuff?"

(I'm sure they said frak too?)
