Which has not stopped the use by the left-leaning pundits. (Why do I get the feeling that this squabble is just about who's going to have the last word? Nothing against that, just saying....)
Here's some more foreshadowing: In "Dogs of War", we see the dedication plaque of the Sao Palo. The camera pulls back...and we see that Ezri's the one looking at it. She turns to Sisko and Ross, a look of beaming pride on her face. Possible prediction...of her one day getting a command of her own...eh?
Thanks! Slight update: now in the lovely lazy youtube format: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bp07Gk2glno
Hmm, how rough/early a rendering is this? I'm not loving the new pylons if they're staying, the sweeping arc of the earlier version's was rather more appealing than the abrupt angles on this version. Cant make up my mind if I like the dagger like extra pointy saucer or not...
5% final, if you would compare that with home construction it would mean that I put some stones together to see how it looks. Your input is appriciated.
Well, you and I have talked about this before, but those sharp angles in the pylons are antithetical to the concept of the slipstream drive and its reliance on "fluid" geometry. I also think the dagger point at the bow is a bit too much, but that's just my opinion. Basically, if you want to refine the skin of the Aventine, I'm cool with that, but I think its general shape and lines should be left alone.
I can understand that entirely, I'm kind of glad that both suggestions are on the parts that I myself also thought should be more towards MKI. I will work some more on it tonight.
Some small Aventine updates that I don't recall being mentioned here yet: http://mark-rademaker.blogspot.com/2010/03/holodeck-lunch.html http://mark-rademaker.blogspot.com/2010/03/aventine-update.html I really can't wait until this is finished...
I vote for the original pylons as well. I could go either way on the pointy nose though. There's my feedback for ya.
Do we know yet where the final version will be officially revealed? Will it be on the Zero Sum Game cover?
Apologies if this has come up before, but have you given any thought to the Aventine interiors? A CG bridge "set" that can be spliced with photoshopped pics of the various characters? I imagine the colour-scheme from the Prometheus, the holograms from Countdown but all in a narrow chamber, shaped kinda like the hull.
I have some thoughts about it, and certainly want to do a bridge someday. (I sometimes forget the g, so I doublechecked if I typed it...yes it's there.) Anyway I probably would use a similar style that I used for the messhall. (from another ship) I might cut down on the amount of ambient lights and make the bridge more functional looking. But I kind of like the milkglass doors and white/blue wall combination.
Clawhammer, have you ever considered making the edges of the ship sharper? It looks wicked cool from afar, but up close, looking at those humans for scale, it doesn't have the same effect.
