Aventine needs its own novels!!!

It's supposed to say it's own novels

Why the heck won't they give Aventine it's own novels they had part of ZSG but I wish they would get their own!

Re: Aventine needs is own novels!!!

I agree, after a few books with Aventine involved I'm interrested in reading more about the ship & crew as well as their adventures. I know there are a lot of different 'series' running in treklit (TNG, NF, VAN, etc.) but it is a big galaxy. I know sales drive everything but we can ask cant we?!

Agreed the crew is very interesting I'd like to know more about them. We know a lot about Ezri do id lie the first one to focus on the others.

Also I'd like to know more about the ship is it considered stronger and more advanced than Soverign class??

Re: Aventine needs is own novels!!!

I'd also be glad to read more Aventine. I felt that crew was a bit short-changed in ZSG but what they got was great.

Not necessarily "stronger," since there's so very much more to Starfleet than brute force, but the Vesta class is a testbed for experimental new technologies, obviously including quantum slipstream drive, so presumably it does have the edge in terms of advancement.

Personally I'm not one for the idea that "every ship must have its own series" I rather like the fact that it's a supporting player that could show up in any of the other series if it wanted!

I'd say we've got enough "new ship" spin-offs already - New Frontier, Titan, Vangard (it's a station, I know) as well as the currently inert S.C.E., Stargazer and Gorkon series'. The odd one-off Aventine starrer is fine, but an ongoing planet-of-the-week style series just with different faces and "Slipstream lolz" on everyone's lips I can do without.

Besides, we all know the next "new ship" series will star the USS Kelvin.

Yes we do.

I have enjoyed the appearances of the Aventine and her crew thus far, though I am unsure if they should be given their own official series. There are so many spin-offs and series going on in the Treklit universe (TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, NF, TTN, VGD plus the random one-off novels, crossovers and the defunct/on-hold SCE, Gorkon, etc.). Adding the Aventine to the mix just creates one more series on an already filled schedule. I'd be happy to include them in the occasional TNG or DS9 book, but I see no need to rush an on-going series devoted to them.

I just finished the Destiny trilogy and really enjoyed seeing Dax and her crew, but I don't know whether or not it's necessary, at this juncture, to formally green-light a series dedicated solely to their adventures; using them to 'spice up'/guest star in the other 24th Century-based ongoing novel series is just fine, IMO, especially if, as in the case of Destiny and Zero Sum Game, they're able to play a centralized role.

I'm happy with the Aventine playing a supporting role in other series' novels. At this point the only new series I would really want to see is a USS Kelvin series. That's not to say I wouldn't read a series focusing on the Aventine or something new, like DTI, it's just not my first choice.

All I know is, if I knew there were an "Aventine" series in the works, it would REALLY motivate me to find a dang agent, and submit that bloody book proposal....

I would welcome more Aventine books, I am hoping they will feature in David Mack's next trilogy

Agreed.

To quote my network security teacher: "A picture says more than a thousand words, but it takes up a thousand times the memory."

Am I he only one who hated everything about the Kelvin?

1. Starfleet ships look just wrong without Warp Nacelles IMO
2. That might have been the worst most uninteresting Captain I have ever seen.
3. The ship was 20 years closer to the ENT era and looked like it came from the same era as the film.

If only there were a few more slots, but the Aventine as a supporting ship for TNG, DS9, and VOY works too (she's certainly fast enough to pay each of them a visit)...
