Yeah this was discussed back in the summer time when Joss talked about the lack of females in the cast. He said that there were females in the movie but that they didn't necessary have big parts. Joss also said in the summer time that Janet wasn't appearing in the film but maybe Marvel pushed him to include her.

Marvel is testing actors to "play" the CGI Hulk. Seems his motions are going to be done via motion capture like Gollum or Silver Surfer were done. Actor Brandon Molale posted this to his Twitter account.
I like seeing reports like this as it shows that even while THOR and Captain America are in post they are still focused on Avengers.

I've seen some of what his credits indicate he's done but he doesn't jump out at me as someone I recall.
I like seeing reports like this as it shows that even while THOR and Captain America are in post they are still focused on Avengers.

Ruffalo had originally said something to that affect. That he'd be the first person to play both Banner and Hulk. Which is what makes this report of some interest if only for the contradiction it raises.

Nick Fury will have another female sidekick (of sorts) in The Avengers. Not to unlike Black Widow being his in the field operative in Iron Man 2 I suppose.
Sharon Carter aka Agent 13? Obvious Captain America tie-in
Jessica Drew aka Spider-woman? A good launching point for a new solo character. Especially since SONY has THE spider character tied-up for awhile longer.

I had thought about Mockingbird but she is essentially a Black Widow clone. Powerless human who just happens to have a very skilled physical set. If they go that route may as well make the character(Agent 13) tied to someone most integral to the film, like Cap, than Hawkeye.

THR's Heat Vision is reporting that Morena Baccarin, Jessica Lucas, Cobie Smulders, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead are amongst the actresses set to audition for the role of Fury's sidekick. They also report that the tests include a nine-film option such as Jackson's.

Well, THAT particular aspect being changed made sense...
But yeah, some minor changes to improve continuity and the interconnections of the various marvel titles (though, at the time Marvel had the most successfully integrated universe of all) for the movies are acceptable. It helps that none of these changes are harmful or offensive.

The Janet rumor has been around forever and won't go away. I would love to see Maria Hill, especially if she was played by Monica. I'm pretty excited with how this film is starting to shape up.
