I wonder if this location move is part of the prior announced budget tightning and this portion is just now coming to light? Seems like it could be. I doubt this is a reduction from their stated cost goal of $140m.

Like the piece said a number of productions already do the establishing shots and then film interior photography elsewhere. If I were on the NYC film board I'd look into all the revenue they are losing. Obviously it's too costly, hence why Nolan likely used price as a reason to not shoot his Batman movies there. No one would say those films suffered, hell his movies clearly show Gotham is not NYC here at least they are going to visually make it obvious still that Avengers is in NYC based on exteriors.

Mark Ruffalo has been talking Hulk

IGN: I know you're still preparing for the role and things can change, but how do you even go about playing repressed rage without seeming too muted? It's a tough challenge.

Ruffalo: Rage is an intense thing. It's big, it's huge. It's your whole body, and so I'm not going to compare myself to any other Hulks. I just know that I want that rage to be as real as possible. I want that when he goes off that you feel it in me. That it happens to me first and then it becomes Hulk. I don't think it's simultaneous. It's interesting. It takes some people quite a bit to get to rage.

IGN: You don't strike me as angry guy. You seem pretty chill and likable. Is it going to be tough for you to find that rage?

Ruffalo: No. (laughs) If you knew me as a younger actor -- or even in What Doesn't Kill You that guy's able to access rage and he dragged that guy out of his car. I've heard some of the fans and I totally respect them and I hear their concern about Mark Ruffalo being a nice guy, but I assure you just like everybody else I have my very dark side. Maybe more because I'm an actor. That's not what I'm really worried about. What I'm worried about is bringing some spark of originality and spontaneity to that character. He's the only one who doesn't want to be there [in the Avengers] really. Everyone else is sort of digging on their super powers and he's the only one who doesn't want to be there, which could be an incredibly uninteresting person to spend two hours with. (laughs)

Rumors abound over what direction and what force will cause our heroes to unite. So, it seems only right I suppose with new Thor footage hitting that people would use this as a time to try and cement the idea of Loki being involved in Avengers like he is in the comic for being the cataylst.

Comicbookmovie.com is saying the rumor gets more credible now for some reason. Judge for yourself.

Nothing new here. DAREDEVIL was set in New York, but shot largely in California. GHOST RIDER took place in the American Southwest, but was filmed in Australia. The UNDERWORLD movies take place in Eastern Europe, but we're shot in Budapest, Vancouver, and New Zealand, respectively.

No big deal.

I do think "Avengers" will have Loki manipulating Hulk somehow though...I think the most recent best example of this was done in the fantastic Hulk Vs Thor animated movie that came out last year.

Loki seems to be the villain of choice when it comes to the Avengers' forming. He's apparently the one orchestrating every event in the new Avengers' cartoon as well.

That's because Loki is directly responsible for the formation of the "Avengers" in the comics way back when Stan and Jack created the book.

I know, and to their credit the cartoon version is doing it in a more interesting fashion than "He makes the Hulk accidentally cause a train wreck". Here's hoping the movie version follows suit.

apart from the Ultimates, where they're the US superhuman soldiers and Loki doesn't appear until Ultimates 2...

and the Ultimate Avengers are formed by Fury from super-agents to do black ops stuff, while the New Ultimates are a public team to fight super-threats...

The Albuquerque Journal reports that the villains in the movie will be the Kree and the Skrulls. Here are articles from CBR and AICN. The AICN article has the newspaper report. I'm taking this with a grain of salt.

Also, who the hell is Demi Lovato?

But I did find this interesting...

But that doesn’t mean Marvel isn’t on the hunt for another female actress to join the male-heavy cast. So far, Scarlett Johansson (as the Black Widow) is the only notable female...<snip>

Sources say Marvel is looking for another actress to, um, (un)beef up the lineup, although in typical Marvel secretive fashion, the role is not being revealed. (Anyone want to take bets it’s the Wasp?)
