Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

^ My guess is the former. Had Marvel wanted Norton back, he'd be back. I mean, for the sake of argument, if Whedon wanted to cast DB Woodside as Nick Fury (borrowing Xander's eyepatch) or Alexis Denisof as Iron Man, do you think Feige would let him?

Come on, don't give the Whedon-haters any more ammo - 'Hey, Norton ain't coming back as Hulk because of that douchebag Whedon! He even said it himself'

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

So was Ruffalo the first choice for Whedon after Norton wasn't asked back by Feige OR was Norton not asked back cause Whedon wanted Ruffalo?

Does it really matter at this point? What's done is done.

The Avengers is about to begin set construction.
The Avengers has already found a location to begin set building at Bethpage's Grumman Studios, according to a report at Long Island Business News.

The shoot, described as "huge" by Grumman Studios President Parviz Farahzad, will make use of all seven buildings on the studio lot, most recently home to Salt's studio production.

Earlier reports had indicated that parts of the shoot would take place in Los Angeles, and it is possible that production could be split between the two coasts.

Set construction is said to begin next month...

The reality of the film moves that much more closer to reality!! :techman:

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Eric Bana admits he could be jealous of Ruffalo and The Avengers cast.
"Only if they have a lot of fun," he explained while at New York Comic Con promoting the thriller, "Hanna." "The obvious potential there is those movies can be a lot of fun to make. But then sometimes they're not. I would be jealous if it turns out they just go off and have a good time."

I don't know how they won't have fun on set. RDJ and Chris Evans cracking wise with Sam Jackson. I imagine the set is going to be full of camaraderie, sorry Eric.

Some early concept art for the SHIELD helicarriers has made its way online.
avengers-movie-helicarrier-2-600x354.jpg

The designs look more “submarine”-ish than the SHIELD heli-carriers I’ve seen in the comics. As far as I know, the heli-carriers spent most of their time in the air, while these designs would seem to indicate they’re going to be spending just as much time on the water.

I fully disagree with this writer. This design looks similar enough to what I've seen in the comics. My only question is if they want 'real world' then yes they'll but the carriers in water. Ala 'Iron Man' being just believable. However once you have Cap & Thor as more surrealistic elements do you care if its a flying hellicarrier or not?

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

They wouldn't put rotors on it if they didn't intend it to fly at some point in the film. But I could easily see them starting off with the carrier (just one helicarrier, please) in the water, and having it take off be a 'big moment' in the movie.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

i prefer the Ultimate helicarriers; it's an aircraft carrier with four Stark Industries engines bolted on the sides

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Personally, I'm glad they're using the original (in every sense of the word) Jack Kirby Helicarrier design as a starting point. It just wouldn't feel like S.H.I.E.L.D. to me without it. :techman:

I think the design looks pretty cool...and one aspect of the film that I'm looking forward to seeing.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

But y'know what I really want to see?

The flying car.

It's 2013 its time for a fuckin' flying car. Hell Nick Fury had a flying car back in 1968. He should have arrived at Stark's house in IM2 with a flying car outside the balcony.

"You can fly. So can I."

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Ultimate Fury doesn't even use a flying car, he just ... hovers... usually, just when Bendis writes him, funnily enough...

Why is that?

PS - And a big HELL YES on the S.H.I.E.L.D. flying cars! I still fantasize about having one whenever I get stuck in traffic!

Out doing a press junket for Due Date Robert Downey Jr says the Avengers script is "Fantastic".
MTV caught up with Robert Downey Jr. on the red carpet this week where the actor revealed that he's quite happy with the current state of The Avengers, having just finished reading the script.

"It's going to be fantastic," said Downey, jokingly adding, "Once I tear his script to smithereens and fix it, we’re going to have a great movie."
Short 44sec clip with not much more than that informational wise.

You'd expect to him say it's great I suppose, I just hope it really is. The Whedon fan in me doesn't see how it can't be.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

I wonder if we'll see any version of Iron Man's Hulkbuster armor in the film.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Anyone who has followed the Marvel Studios productions is well aware of their penny pinching. Regardless if you think the blame each time is entirly their own.
It seems once again that a tight grip on the purse strings may cause some problems for The Avengers.
... Now, an interesting rumour over at Bleeding Cool says the studio is demanding the film be completed on a budget just under $140 million. ... As a result, the site's unnamed sources claim some people have walked off the set, while others hope that once the production runs out of money then extra cash will be added to finish the project. In any case the staff changes have apparently delayed the pre-production process by weeks, possibly months.

Who's not to say this is good sense fiscally. I know I've looked at movies before and said, "Really it cost that much? I don't see it on the screen."

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

$140 million? Heck, Inception cost more ($160 million).
