Misquoting is apparently against the rules when some do it.Misquoting someone as you have is libel. It's also pathetic. And it doesn't change that Brie Larsen's comment was racist, sexist and ageist.

And I didn’t call you a white supremacist, you are the one calling everyone who doesn’t agree with your worldview racist. Which is odd because I’m white.

No one is disparaging white men, the only one attacking anyone is you.I'm calling people a racist who are making disparaging and hateful remarks against white males, which you did. I don't care if you disagree with my world view, but don't generalize and make hateful remarks about people of a race and/gender because they don't agree with you or because you seem to think this is socially acceptable. It can't be. Racism is wrong, no matter what race is being disparaged.
When one openly takes someone else's post, edits it, admits to editing it, and then reposts it attributing the edited quote to the original poster, that is a misquote, a lie, and libel. Why don't you scroll up and see what happened, and see if you agree.
I do agree, I saw Neroon reprimanding someone the other day for doing the exact same thing. When one openly takes someone else's post, edits it, admits to editing it, and then reposts it attributing the edited quote to the original poster, that is a misquote, a lie, and libel. No.It sounds like you haven't read a single post in this discussion. You attacked white men. Here's your quote again: "The idea that white men are the “real victims” is the most utterly pathetic nonsense I’ve ever heard. I wish they’d grow up, but that isn’t happening." How is that not racist? How is that not disparaging white men?
In this thread, another poster took one of my comments, changed from this:
"I am, which is why I have no problem calling out racism, sexism, and ageism, even if it's against a race, age, and gender that liberals seem to think it's ok to hate."
to this:
"I am, which is why I have no problem partaking in racism, sexism, and ageism"
This is a personal attack in every form, and a lie. If you don't see that, you didn't read it.
And here's another attack:
"@Kirk Prime , I just want to say, as a straight white male, I’m embarrassed by your behavior."
Now please show me where I attacked someone personally, rather than the argument they were making.
Thank you. All I am saying right now is that racism, in any form, and sexism, in any form, is wrong. If it doesn't apply to everyone, then any statement of belief of that factor is meaningless and hypocritical.
Hate is hate, no matter which race or gender is on the receiving end. It's indefensible.
These discussions seem to follow a similar trajectory. Like Brie's comments about a dud movie might be somewhat relevant but if it was so that the movie was not meant for a wider audience then that is just bad business. However I disagree with her in that we all should have a right to critique a creative work, even a 40 year old white male dude.Thank you. What gets me is that this movie Endgame is about team work and sacrifice. It's not a female empowerment trip or a male empowerment one. It's an ensemble where the original team shine the brightest.
Looks like starring and producing. So the $1B dollar questions are what/where/when/how..
Wakanda has a coast?
It wouldn't take much to make Killmonger white and remove the racial element. Just have him bent on revenge and make him an extreme nationalist. He can still hate the west due to its treatment of Wakanda, and hate Wakanda's government due to the treatment of his father.
You really can't excuse a racist, sexist, and ageist comment by saying "context." It was pretty clear her choice of words were all of the above.

Brie didn’t say that white men shouldn’t review movies, that’s absurd. Just that a reviewer who is in the demographic that it was made for may connect to it better.
No film review is objective, that’s the point of the review to know how a movie made them feel. There is no such thing as an objective review. If you want objective, read a press release.Which is exactly the problem with her statement. If you want an objective opinion about a movie's merits demographics shouldn't enter into I at allt. Calling for demographic-based criticism of any movie is like stacking the deck.
She wants more diversity in the critic pool? Fine, but there are better ways to call for it than to devalue one demographic's opinion in favor of another, which is what she did with her statement.
I agree, she was the one drawing a divisive comparison. So unnecessary we all have a right to an opinion and it was strange she even brought "him" up if she doesn't want to take it on board.Which is exactly the problem with her statement. I consider the “FTFY quote” thing a board specific rhetorical device which basically is shorthand for “here is what I think you are really saying between the lines”.At least Kirk didn't need to edit and misquote to present an argument...
If someone takes what is in the quote box (attributed to another poster) and changes it with that poster's name still attached to a 'quote' then it is clearly a misrepresentation. Get real!I consider the “FTFY quote” thing a board specific rhetorical device which basically is shorthand for “here is what I think you are really saying between the lines”.
If the changed quote still appears as a believable quote to you instead of the intended Persiflage which is clearly indicated in the corresponding comment below, then maybe that should make you think.
