Available on VHS but not DVD

As far as I know, VHS is dead. It died in 2005 which is when most theatrical movies were released on DVD alone. Theatrical movies were the last to make the give up on VHS, TV movies and TV series stopped being released on VHS years earlier.

I'm wondering how many movies and TV series there are available on DVD but not on VHS. The only one I can think of is Animorphs. 12 of its 26 episodes were released on VHS and there are no plans to release any of it on DVD. Does anyone know of any others? Also, how many of you still have a VHS player at home?

Of course I still have my VCR, though, I admit, I haven't used it in some time. I still need to buy a better converter thing so put my VHS into my computer so I can stick the stuff on dvd.

I do not have a VCR. My old VCR/DVD player broke about 3 years ago, and I haven't felt the need to get a new VCR.

Some movies I am waiting for on DVD (which is why I have them on Laserdisc or vhs.)
LOOKING FOR MR GOODBAR
TWILIGHT'S LAST GLEAMING (reported for region1, then cancelled)
REPORT TO THE COMMISSIONER
FINAL OPTION (not dvd in region 1)
Tavernier's DEATHWATCH w/ Keitel
A TASTE OF HONEY

My Star Trek VHS are dusting somewhere in my garage...

As said in the previous similar thread, I'm still waiting for Tour of Duty (not gonna happen because of music rights) and the War Next Door.

I'm still waiting for Damnation Alley to come out on dvd. Anchor Bay was going to release it several years ago but it was cancelled.

I still have a few Star Trek Documentaries on VHS and for some reason never made it to DVD.
My biggest disappointment is the colorized version of James Cagney's "Yankee Doodle Dandy" never made it to DVD.

When I heard a few years back that "Yankee Doodle Dandy" was finally coming to DVD I couldn't wait to run out to get it, then I found out it was the Black & white version :(. Why?

Now typically I like all the old Bogart and Cagney gangster movies to be in B&W , it just feels like they should be.
But "Yankee Doodle Dandy" has to be in Color, there are so many outfits in such it just adds to the movie.
Plus the fact that the Fireworks and the American Flag a wasted in B&W.

I hope they finally make it in Color but I have a feeling they never will.

The big classic is The African Queen.

A cult favorite, Night of the Creeps is also unavailable. Sadly, I missed an HD broadcast of it earlier this year.:(

A couple of films that I would love to see is Kill or be Killed and Kill and Kill Again starring Steve Ryan. Mind you, these are terrible films but they are also terribly amusing. One of them got a very small print run and goes for a $100 or whatever on Ebay but apparently the quality isn't really any better than the VHS.

The African Queen was release on DVD in Australia years ago. I know because I have it sitting on my shelf. You can buy a multi-regional copy on Amazon at the moment and it does look like there will be a USA release in the not too distant future.

I would like to see Orphans starring Matthew Modine, Albert Finney and Kevin Anderson come out on DVD. It is available on VHS. It is an excellent movie, with outstanding performances, and I can't understand why it isn't better known.

I'd like to have a digital restoration of Movie, Movie. I think there's a Japanese version on DVD, but otherwise it's only available (legally) on VHS.

I still use my vcr regularly just for casual taping of shows I want to watch later but not keep. I'm just too cheap to buy a Tivo. :)

The sad part is I still have something like 150 old vhs tapes packed away on shelves and boxes. I keep promising that someday I'll convert the few I want to keep to a digital format. The rest I need to toss, but I just feel guilty about dumping all that plastic into a landfill. I wish there was a way to recycle the damned things.

It varies from country to country but an oddity in the UK - The Addams Family Movie never been out here, yet Addams Family Values was one of the first!

I'd like Reboot as well.

It's funny though, there are many cartoons I watched in the 80s I'd never have bought on VHS as they were for kids. DVDs seem more grownup!

Tour of Duty is already out on DVD.

I haven't seen the series, but the music has been extensively altered and/or changed throughout all the episodes, correct? If what I've read about Tour of Duty is correct, than it appears the music alterations have been for the worse.
