Australia ST Film promotion = pathetic

Yeah, we do: the 18 - 25 demographic which by all estimations is being eaten alive by Wolverine as of 2 weeks ago.

This is why they've gone apeshit on MTV recently.

Hopefully they pay attention to reviews - Wolverine got two stars in today's Herald Sun, while Star Trek is on track for at least four.

They've named it "top pick" for May, and have even assembed a geek panel for the review!

It's 10PM........Why, as a good movie geek are you NOT watching Margaret and David?!?

Because I had "Thank God You're Here" running while it taped, then flicked across to "Spicks and Specks", then it reverted back to Seven. Usually the TV stays on ABC on a Wednesday night, and so "The Movie Show" comes on in the background while I'm websurfing in the other room.

I assume M&D reviewed the Star Trek movie last night? How did they rate it?

I usually watch it on my ipod at work on Thursday afternoons but I checked their website and it had no mention of ST. I assume they will review it next week.

Wow, I heard an ad for "Star Trek 11" tickets on SEN radio this morning. It's very unusual for them to have movie ads.

Two pages in today's Herald Sun - one on the town of Vulcan, one on Bana with an insert on the best Trek villains. It also names Tribbles as the worst Trek villain - how's that for missing the point!

JB HiFi's Stack magazine has a double-page Trek spread to celebrate the new film and the DVD releases. It's quite good, though bafflingly names "space hippies" as one of the high points of TOS...

Just saw an ad for the film during Good News Week, which is only the third I've seen. Still nothing on last week's Lost, though there are remarkably few ads on that.

I've seen at least 20 spots in the last two weeks. Three just tonight.

My TV viewing must be in the wrong demographic. The mainstream coverage has been fantastic, and that should be at least as beneficial as any advertising.

Ahhhh, now it's infesting, TV, radio, theaters nearby.
They we're giving away tickets on radio, one of the questions: "What are the names of the main characters?" and one of the answers was "Kirky and Spocky", lol ))

Not a good sign for "Lost". That and the fact it's now on at what, 11:30 at night or something?

Remember when it was like the biggest show on Australian tv?

11pm, pushed back from 10:30 by that absolute trash with Russell Brand. It has virtually no ads at all, and as you say, that's quite a fall from a show which was regularly in the top-20 for ratings.

I think it was the third season that pushed most viewers away.

Just saw a TV ad for the Star Trek "Warp Speed Ball" premium in Kelloggs' Sultana Bran, Corn Flakes and Mini-Wheats! During "Rove".

I have seen no posters for the film, not even in the cinema i saw it in! no posters or anything, even though it had the most screens in the cinema, along with wolverine, but that had loads of posters.

I am going to see it in imax next week, that should be fun! wonder if they have posters?
