attention girls: embrace your inner...

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch!

I wish I could wear pretty shoes. My feet are, and always have been, quite wide; so my options are greatly limited unless I don't mind being in pain.

P.S. The model in that first picture gets around. She's on virtually every single page of the Roaman's catalogue. (I think they've finally stopped seding those to me.)

I thought she looked familiar!

The shoes in the picture come in sizes up to WW. My feet are pretty wide, but I could wear these in a W.

I've noticed that more and more cute shoes are showing up in wide sizes. Finally. But those shoes, KM, yeah, probably still too cute for wide. :(

I like the first dress better, btw.

The first dress is probably the one I'll get.

Ulla Popken's shoes are usually very good on sizing. I've bought shoes that looked narrow on the page, but when I ordered them in wide, they were perfect!

I'm afraid to order shoes online because I wouldn't know if they were gonna fit.

I've been known to buy shoes on the same day, at the same store, in sizes 8, 8½, and 9. In different widths! It's rather bizarre.

P.S. I liked the first dress better.

You know, I wish they'd put plus-sized clothes on plus-sized models so I could tell how they might look/fit on me.

^ I've never found one of those that I like. I find that they're usually too low-cut for my taste, and I can't adjust it because of the built-in bra. It's becoming harder and harder to find one that doesn't have anything built in, though!
Have you considered sewing them yourself? A cami wouldn't be too hard to make - a tube, the kind of neckline you want, straps... (if you know somebody with a sewing machine, of course.)

Oh goodness ... I nearly failed sewing in school and had to stay after class to make up my work. And that too, one of the guys I was friends with had to do half my sewing for me! It's one skill I will never master.

^ Cute dress.

Okay, ladies. I'm trying my best not to panic but a friend of mine who is having twins called me tonight because there has been a lot of "sister drama" about pulling together a shower for her. Guess who will be throwing it instead?

I've never done one of these before. Any tips?

Oh I had to throw one for my best friend and I'd never been to a shower before either.

We did a fun game where everyone brought in a onesie or bib and I provided paint and stuff and they all painted special onesies for the baby.

In the end Mom had more onesies than she could ever possibly need.

I did my sister's baby shower. She knew she was having a girl, but didn't want everything for the shower to be pink. So, I got got solid colored plates, napkins, cups, tablecloths, etc, that were light green, light blue, light yellow, and pink. For favors, I did pastel M & M's in pastel netting. The one thing my sister wanted was to have her luncheon catered by Panera bread. Surprisingly, it wasn't expensive, and it was easy to do, since I didn't have to worry about making food for 85 people (she had a unusually large baby shower).

My sister didn't want any shower games, because it takes up so much time to do them. So what I did do was put together a few gift bags. Some had candles, some had bath sets, and some had items for pedicures. I got most of these things from the dollar store. I set a timer while my sister was opening her gifts. When the timer went off, whoever's gift she was opening got a gift bag.

Thank you so much for the tips. I'm dreading the guest list she's going to send because it will supposedly include "the usual gang + church folks + my sisters/nieces and maybe hubby's Mom/Sister/nieces/grandma....

There was also mention of people flying in from out of town. There could be well over a hundred people in my townhouse. I'm guessing punch and cookies probably won't cut it.

Okay, end of rant. I will definately be checking out Panera for catering. :)

I had one of those days a cloth pads user just dreads! I had just come home from running errands and I really had to run to the potty. I realized I probably wouldn't make it to my bathroom, so I popped into the guest bathroom, pulled my pants down, sat on the toilet and let it go. Then I looked down at my panties and wondered, "Hey, I was wearing a brand new pad today. Where did it go?"

Yup, you guessed it. It fell into the toilet. :( :scream:

Can I resurrect this thread? Ladies, I need advice on something.

I'm attending a wedding this weekend for a friend of mine. I'm doing the first reading during the ceremony--something out of the Bible. I'm going through my closet and all of my dresses seem unsuitable in some way. Either they're all black, or they're too low-cut. I mean, I don't think I'd feel comfortable standing up there reading something from the Bible if I thought people were going to be staring elsewhere!

Do I just wear one of the black dresses, do I try to throw on a tank under one of the dresses with a print, or do I go shopping? Heeeeeelp!
