attention girls: embrace your inner...

Update on my denim pencil skirt:

I know you've all been waiting on news with bated breath, and not I can finally give you an official update.

My skirt came in on Friday and I picked it up from my apartment complex office. I went home and tried it on. Since I could not find a denim pencil skirt in a physical store that fit me, period, after trying NINE FRIGGIN STORES I gave up and went to Old Navy's website. I had tried on a regular size 6 at the store, but the wash was't dark enough and I'm a Petite.

The 6 Petite I ordered looks wonderful. The fit is perfect, and I know now that if I see something at the Old Navy/Gap/Banana Republic store that I like but isn't in Petite, I should get it in Petite online. Turns out my rugby cardiagn is available online in Petite and that fit would be better for me. But you live and you learn.

I'll be taking pics of myself in the skirt tonight at the Tex Mex restaurant we're going to. Pics will be posted soon.

Thank you all for your concern and this press conference is now officially over.

So today I wanted to wear a brand new cami with a built-in shelf bra. The other ones I've bought from this same line were just fine. However, I'm starting to realize that the new one runs really tight. I am extremely uncomfortable and can't wait until the other person here leaves the room so I can take this damned thing off! Thank goodness I have a nice, loose-fitting sweatshirt in my bag.

^ I've never found one of those that I like. I find that they're usually too low-cut for my taste, and I can't adjust it because of the built-in bra. It's becoming harder and harder to find one that doesn't have anything built in, though!

I have found one (and only one) cami that I truly love. I got it from Lunapads. And they no longer carry them, and the company that made it appears to have disappeared. :(

The probably moved the manufacturing to another (cheaper) location. I've now started checking the labels when I want to buy something thinking it will be just like something I already own. The quality doesn't always remain the same unfortunately.

One of the catalogs I buy from is trying to get my business back...they sent me a 40% off of a $100 or more purchase. I think I'll get my dress for Easter now.

This one...

...or this one.

And add a cheap pair of shoes to make it $100 to get the discount.

I don't normally spend that much on dresses, but those two are gorgeous. Silhouettes clothing are well made and last for years.

^Go vote in my lj entry! So far it's two for the rose, zero for the floral.

Some shoes I'm looking at as well (from Ulla Popken):

Any of those will go with a lot of stuff in my summer wardrobe, and that's also about the highest heel I can tolerate these days.

Now this is a girl thread! Shoes! Shopping!

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch!

I wish I could wear pretty shoes. My feet are, and always have been, quite wide; so my options are greatly limited unless I don't mind being in pain.

P.S. The model in that first picture gets around. She's on virtually every single page of the Roaman's catalogue. (I think they've finally stopped seding those to me.)

I have size 8(UK) feet. They are also quite wide; hence why I wear flats, usually Converse or flipflops, depending on the weather.

Have you considered sewing them yourself? A cami wouldn't be too hard to make - a tube, the kind of neckline you want, straps... (if you know somebody with a sewing machine, of course.)

My aunt gave me three silk camis (in black, purple and red). They were a bit loose, so I've been experimenting with shortening the straps and putting in darts under the bust. I've never really been the type to wear clothes like that... I'm looking forward to trying them out when it warms up.

If they're wide in American terms then you might find British ladies shoes fit you quite well - a normal fit British shoe is a wide American shoe.

Not much use for every day I suppose, but if you're ever in London... :)

I've noticed that more and more cute shoes are showing up in wide sizes. Finally. But those shoes, KM, yeah, probably still too cute for wide. :(

I like the first dress better, btw.
