Attack of the Clones gets the RLM tratment at last!

You know, maybe I'm biased because I like the prequels, but I don't get the love for this...guy? Company? Whatever. I can never get past the first few minutes, because I don't think anything he says is funny, and the way he talks, which I guess is supposed to be humourous, just annoys the shit out of me.

I agree is horrible shite.

I love this guy, he may sound funny ( an act of course) but he also makes salient points and he really knows what makes good Star Wars work and why the new movies failed.

True, which is why its worth sitting here, at my Dad's crappy computer desk, in the wee hours of the morning, to catch it all as soon as I can.

As I said in the other thread on the same topic, the extended kidnap jokes aren't as funny, but the criticisms are spot on.

At first, I didn't think the kidnap jokes were that funny, but they've grown on me, and they're interesting in their own way--although don't I clearly remember Plinkett being arrested at the end of the Phantom Menace review? What's up with that?

I can understand why others would be put off by those segments, and they're kinda scary sometimes, really.

The reviews themselves are ordinarily extremely perceptive, even if so in-depth they wind up extremely long, as well. Nevertheless, I very much enjoyed the point-by-point, practically second-by-second destruction of the prequels and TNG movies. They deserve it, and they're filled with enough awfulness and absurdity that reviews as long as RLM's are justified.

Then again, I'm pretty inured to feature-length excoriations of shitty media (your MST3K, your Spoony, and so on), and am also a poor time manager, so long reviews don't bother me.

In a way, I agree that the kidnap jokes can get a bit old. However, they also give the reviews a bit of an edge. And the alternative is a lot less prefereable: that he would be snotty, pretentious, and obstinate, like Confused Matthew. That said, I enjoyed Matthew's reviews of the prequels, particularly his "Anakin voice" but a true point-by-point analysis with Matthew would be an endurance test.

Besides, Plinkett's victim came up with some poignant observations!

I find his comments funny and his opinions interesting but, yeah the "character" I don't get/"like", the voice is annoying, the pizza rolls "fixation" stupid and yeah I can't get into it.

Never-the-less, the points he makes is kind of funny and I more-or-less agree with,

"Who wouldn't want to dock his canoe into Natalie's port, man." :guffaw:

It's like that "Guy with Glasses" or whatever he goes by and the dozens of Angry Nintendo Nerd clones. There's a lot of these things I'd maybe find amusing but I can't stand listening to these guys.

The reviewer's character was so annoying that even though I agreed with many of the points he was making I couldn't get passed more than a few minutes of the first video. I can't see how anyone could make it through over an hour of this.

Plus, AOTC was 8 years ago. I hate it too, but it's time to let go.

Well, Nostalgia Critic, AVGN, and Spoony's "anger" in their reviews, for me, is kind of funny. I don't find the murder "sub plots" in the RLM reviews funny. The old man character I can "take" to a degree. Not so much the constant side-steps to the murder and kidnappings.

I really like these reviews. I mean, they have to be good for me to actually sit down tonight and watch 9 10 minute segments. I really liked the First Contact review too.

The short kidnapping segments I think are funny. Like putting together 3 puzzles in under an hour or being killed. "59 minutes!" The extended sequences.....eh.

Yeah... that wasn't so good. Morgan Freeman, a better choice for a Jedi than SLJ? Nope, don't buy it. The same old unfunny women-abusing jokes? Fast-forward, indeed. Droning on about all the wrong moves Anakin makes? Accurate, but way overdone. And there wasn't nearly enough of the fun, in-universe nitpicking as well as storytelling analysis that made the first review so good.

For AOTC hating, 64 Reasons to Hate Episode II remains the gold standard. I mean, who could forget this observation (or condone RLM's leaving it out)?

Reason #1: The Title
I don't think it ever occurred to anyone that the title of Episode II wouldn't be The Clone War. That seemed like an obvious title and a good one. Lucas then announced that the title would be Attack of the Clones to pay homage to the days of the 1950's movie serial. What he's forgetting is that those serials were terrible! Attack of the Clones, while it will grow on you just as any bad thing will, is a horrible title! Why would you want to pay homage to crap? It's especially bad when you realize that the clones in question are fighting for the good side. That's even less scary and stupider sounding. The title is essentially Attack of the Good Guys.

I finished the review. I have to admit. It's creepy, unsettling, deranged but hilarious and insightful. I'm not so annoyed by Plinkett as others are. I do agree that his review for The Phantom Menace was more insightful and analytical, but these are pretty entertaining when you have insomnia and a high level of boredom.

Pffft. No criticism of AOTC is complete without a critique of the score and, more importantly, how it was utilized in the film.

Also, the kidnapping elements to these reviews are stupid so I just skip them.

Standards for "brilliant" must have come way down.

Come down from what?
Just please tell me you're not someone who watches The Family Guy or South Park and I'll be more likely to accept your judging of humour.

I actually think Family Guy is one of the worst, most overrated shows on television, and I haven't seen South Park since the movie came out like 10 years ago.
