Astra's ENT action figures in action

It must be possible to get hold of a toy beagle of approximately the same size as the Porthos action figure. I'm impressed that you made clothes for your Barbie.
I come from many generations of ladies who do/did expert sewing, needleworking, quilting, crochet, etc. It's in my blood!

I have a friend who built an Enterprise bridge for her Barbies!

After I started with the 12” figures, I bought some Barbie furniture and accessories. Some I repainted so it was not all pink. Looks much better.
"...so it was not all pink.":guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

You will get to see these once 12” Archer arrives. Do you plan to get him?
All I ever got from ENT was a Christmas ornament of T'Pol, which I love. But I will live vicariously through your action figures. :)

Have you heard of EXO-6? We already saw pictures at the Chicago convention, he also brings a Porthos with him! Can’t be long now. Yes, these are expensive but so worth it.
I took a look at the website - WOW they're gorgeous. And you say there will be ENT figures? I look forward to seeing those.

The Porthos plushies - yours and the official one - are beautiful. Beagles are such pretty dogs. Thanks for the info!

We all know how wonderfully Scott Bakula also sings and plays the piano. So I made the following pictures for swooning fangirls ;)
Sweet! Archer didn't get enough love in the show, glad to see you making up for that. I was hoping for a 7 year run of ENT so they would dream up a way to have Captain Archer play piano and sing. Movie Night talent show or something. I adore Scott's voice, I loved it whenever Sam sang in QL.

Here's another clip of Scott singing, from an episode of "Boston Legal."

I come from many generations of ladies who do/did expert sewing, needleworking, quilting, crochet, etc. It's in my blood!

I admire those who can sew. I am crafty in many ways but sewing is not one of them. I just sculpt and repaint figures. I made Jon in desert uniform:

Cutting off the creases:

Smoothing holes with Milliput:

Sunglasses bought from Wrestling figures. Ain't he looking cool?

"...so it was not all pink.":guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

See for yourself!

These pictures of Archer are all we have so far. I guess how deep the line goes will depend on how well he sells. I think he looks wonderful and can't wait to get him.

I recently watched this. Love it! I watched "Boston Legal" back then and loved the show, but have no memory of Scott being there. I need to rewatch that episode.

Another great one. I can't tell you how much I love this. The song and also the way he puts so much emotion into it. I wish there was more!

:guffaw:OMG, that clip is a scream! Is the whole series that funny? I've never seen it.

Wow. Did you use patterns to make doll clothes? I do patchwork quilting, but obviously that's very different.
I didn't know enough back in grammar school - I looked at some Barbie outfits and kind of back-engineered them and copied them. Sleeves were hard, I usually did sleeveless. Also knitted teeny little tube dresses, easy stuff. 5 years later, I had sewing machine and pattern knowhow - but I started making clothes for myself instead. Barbie was on her own.

I adore quilting! Hardest thing for me to learn was the teeeeeny quilting stitches, 10 per inch, SO hard. Years ago I made a patchwork quilt from all the remnants of clothes I'd made - every time I look at it it's a walk down memory lane! Do you make yours all by hand, or combination of machine and hand?

This work is fabulous! Jon's desert uniform that you did is spot-on! Great crafting, very intricate. This I could not do to save my life. And your little touches like the shades are so great.

The pink Barbie stuff is just too silly, isn't it? I mean, calm down Mattel, there are other colors in the world. Nice work on the flowers.

Gorgeous. The mini jumpsuit with the mini working zippers, eeeeeee! And Porthos is beautiful. I'm with you, I hope we see T'Pol and Trip too, at least. *please do Season 3 T'Pol, not Season 1, pleeeease...*

Astra your very talented the figures look great.I. I have the Trip and T'Pol Christmas tree ornaments. They're the only Enterprise things I was lucky to find them when they came out at the Hallmark store .Like Hopeful Romantic said I'm amazed by your talent of remaking and changing the clothes for the Enterprise figures.

I'm impressed by you back-engineering the outfits.

A patchwork quilt from the remnants of clothes you've made is the best kind! I made one from the remnants of clothes that my mother made for me when I was a kid - as you say, it's a walk down memory lane. I make mine by a combination of machine and hand.

Awww, what a treasure of a quilt! :adore:

Regarding a beagle plushie... There were official Porthos beagles on ebay once upon a time, but can't find any now, alas. But a general search for beagle plushies turns up many cute candidates. There's a company called Douglas that caught my eye - their beagle plushies look adorable.

Thank you! Up until you guys mentioning it I had no idea there were Enterprise Hallmark ornaments. I've seen some Voyager and TOS ones, but never specifically looked for ENT since I started watching. Need to rectify that. I probably won't get them as I prefer stuff that moves and that I can play with.

Also, last time I looked for Halllmark Janeway, I ended up with a 300 bucks Ebay bill cause I found other cute Hallmark ornaments like an old fashioned fridge and stove and many others like a jukebox and OMG nobody ever told me that there was such cute stuff that I can use for my figure scenes?!? The first time I heard of Hallmark was with a Stargate ornament back in the day that also has some sound effects.

@Astra Thanks for sharing how you've changed your figures - it's fascinating to see your process.
You're welcome! I always love to share the details in case someone wants to try it as well. As I got so much help back in the day when I started with the Stargate figures.

Here's one more for you:

The hardest part was mixing the paint in the exact skin tone of the face and even if I am touting my own horn, but I think I nailed it. There are still times when I randomly look at this figure and honestly think I am really looking at his naked flesh underneath the shirt.

:guffaw:OMG, that clip is a scream! Is the whole series that funny? I've never seen it.
I've never seen it either but I read that this is only the second musical episode of the show and unfortunately this is the only scene with Scott in, only a cameo. I truly wish therewas some more.

Here is the whole clip of his scene, with some dialogue before the song. Watch till the very end!

As others have said, that is truly impressive because figuring out the pattern and trying to get it flat on a piece of cloth is for me the impossible task, even though otherwise I have a pretty good 3D imagination which I need in my job in an engineer's office. It just only works for rectangular buildings and not soft clothes, is all!

This work is fabulous! Jon's desert uniform that you did is spot-on! Great crafting, very intricate. This I could not do to save my life. And your little touches like the shades are so great.

Thank you! I love how we all are creative in a different way.
I also made him his NX-01 cap (the cap is bought, I removed the image and added the pattern) but I think I need to re-do it, it is too round. Should be more straight.

Since this is Archer with his season 3 hair (as requested by Scott Bakula himself), I think the chances are high that T'Pol would be in a matching jumpsuit.
At first I was a bit thrown off by the hair but now that I am actually watching season 3 I am getting used to the look. I think the facial expression is spot on and Porthos is a nice bonus, I honestly had not expected him.
I am sitting here like on hot coals, waiting for him to finally go for pre-order.

If you have the slightest wish to have him you should do yourself a favor and get him. They are limited and once they're gone they go for double the price on ebay. So better be there at the beginning.

I'm also really curious to see how well he will sell. When Janeway went up for pre-order they had underestimated how popular she was and originally she sold out within 20 minutes (there were more added later but that won't always be the case). And since she was so well-loved, we also already got EMH in hand, Tuvok on pre-order and Seven probably will be next, with the whole crew expected to be finished within the year. That is pretty awesome (with other companies you wait 2 years for one figure) and I hope Enterprise will get the same treatment. I hear it has gained a lot of popularity since it was added to Netflix.

So, after I created desert Jon, I was taking pictures of him, minding my own business, when suddenly this happened. With a little insider joke because I cannot move Jon's legs, the paint on the rubber parts of his uniform will break:

I got the Voyager ship Xmas ornament because you could plug the ship into a Christmas light socket and the ship's teeny little lights would flash. Pretty cool.

:guffaw:Sounds like me and all the TOS stuff I got back in the day. Anyone remember Lincoln Enterprises? Or the Blish adaptations? Or the Leonard Nimoy Association of Fans? Good times, good times.

Great job with Ripped Shirt Kirk! Your modification process is meticulous and fascinating. (That engineer-mojo suits you!) Is that "Shore Leave" Kirk? There were several episodes where his shirt got torn, I get them mixed up.

As others have said, that is truly impressive because figuring out the pattern and trying to get it flat on a piece of cloth is for me the impossible task
Thank you! I picked up some alterations know-how along the way. I made a lot of sportshirts for my dad, and he was tall with long arms - I needed to redo the sleeves and change the hem, to fit him. And I made costumes for some folks when I was doing musicals in high school. I did a lot of adapting, made a bunch of mistakes, learned from them.

I love how we all are creative in a different way.
Indeed! :)

Since this is Archer with his season 3 hair (as requested by Scott Bakula himself), I think the chances are high that T'Pol would be in a matching jumpsuit.
I was wondering who chose the hairstyle. I liked his hair that way - sort of a Clooney/Caesar cut, looked great on him. Archer, the character, matured a lot in Season 3, and actually looked older (nearer Scott's age), so the hair fit that evolution.

I hope Enterprise will get the same treatment. I hear it has gained a lot of popularity since it was added to Netflix.
That's great to hear. Like TOS gaining momentum and fans in all those bazillion reruns. That's when I was introduced to TOS, and to sci-fi.

So, after I created desert Jon, I was taking pictures of him, minding my own business, when suddenly this happened. With a little insider joke because I cannot move Jon's legs, the paint on the rubber parts of his uniform will break:
This is hilarious! Your action-figure storytelling -- and cool guest stars -- surely knows no peer. :techman:

Sadly German Christmas string lights have different plugs and I cannot plug it into these.
I tried to change the plug for the jukebox and attach it to a dollhouse battery but it seems to be too weak to get it going.
I'm glad the Stargate ornament had a battery inside.

Some of my Hallmark hauls, I got way more (not all are the right size for the figures), but these are the cutest. I love all the details of the fridge, what's inside! There is also a tray with cookies in the stove. I got all this in November 2020 - before the pandemic I used to travel a lot, to see my favorite stars at conventions or in concerts - suddenly I had so much money in my bank account, I figured I can spend some ;)

This may surprise you but in the whole series he only ripped his shirt three times! I did not do a particular look, got inspiration from all those occasions.
I just wish I had used the Kirk that already comes with blood on his face, would have made it even more authentic. I'm too chicken to try to add blood myself, you can really screw this up.
(And having written this right now, I just realized - it is very easy to switch heads on those Diamond Select Toys figures. So next time I need him for a picture, I can just add the other head. Problem solved. How did that never occur to me before?!?)

That's great to hear. Like TOS gaining momentum and fans in all those bazillion reruns. That's when I was introduced to TOS, and to sci-fi.
Connor and Dominic said so in their Shuttlepod podcast. That in recent years so many fans have come to their table telling them they only recently fell in love with the show - or rediscovered it.

I do wonder whether it is the right decision to put all Star Trek on the Paramount Streaming thingy. People will be less likely to stumble about it there.

This is hilarious! Your action-figure storytelling -- and cool guest stars -- surely knows no peer. :techman:
Can you please explain the "knows no peer" phrase? Not even Urban Dictionary has this. Thanks! Never heard that before.

Sometimes it's funny how my mind works. Desert led to snakes, and snakes led to Indy. I love when that happens. These are the pictures that I actually was trying to take. His arms are too stiff, he cannot bring the communicator or the binoculars closer to his face.

Agreed, the details are just amazing. The jukebox! The Elvis LP player! So few of us are old enough to know what these things are, lol.

And the best way to spend a pandemic is safely at home, playing with all your cute toys. :)

There's a special Kirk figure with blood on his face? No wonder you go broke when you go shopping. ...But yeah, it was like that with Barbies. All the new sets and clothes and accessories. At least my mom was the one shelling out the money.

(And having written this right now, I just realized - it is very easy to switch heads on those Diamond Select Toys figures. So next time I need him for a picture, I can just add the other head. Problem solved. How did that never occur to me before?!?)
That's why we have TrekBBS.

It means you have no equal - there is no action-figure storytelling known that is on a par with yours.

These are the pictures that I actually was trying to take. His arms are too stiff, he cannot bring the communicator or the binoculars closer to his face.
But the cool shades make up for everything!

If you got a job in R&D at a toy company, you would really rock at it. :techman:

Nice Monument Valley backdrop for your last vignette - I've been there, and it's just beautiful.

There are two, one is called battle ravaged (with the blood) and one is called battle scarred. That one comes with the Gorn figure in a two-pack and has like dirt on his face and fists.

Thanks for explaining! I knew the word peer, just not in this context.
I'm far from being the only one doing pictures with figures though. I follow lots on Instagram. Many guys like to do battle scenes, but I prefer humorous ones. If I see a Stormtrooper with an ice cream cone, that's my kind of guy!

Nice Monument Valley backdrop for your last vignette - I've been there, and it's just beautiful.

I'm collecting all sorts of calendar photos for this. I've never been there but would love to visit!

Last weekend I was busy with making a wedding cake out of tube lids!

It's for Janeway and Chakotay, so I won't post the whole picture story in here, but if you'd like to see it, here it is: https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/the...scussion-thread.170698/page-508#post-14187211

And this is what I did when I came to the Enterprise episode "Judgment". Here I took the pictures first and then wrote the text around it. The fur Jon is wearing is from my childhood days, I once did a cat mobile and had fur leftovers. I always kept them in case one day I can use them and while watching the episode, remembered them!

His first day as a prisoner of the Klingons had come to an end. Finally some rest.

Jon let himself fall down on the nearest surface. He looked in disgust at the bowl in his hands.

Why was it that they always served an unidentifiable white mush in prisons? And he had been imprisoned a few times already since he started on this trip. It was the same everywhere.

Yet he also knew that to survive he had to eat everything that was thrown at him. There was no spoon so he slowly reached into the mush with his fingers and put some into his mouth. It didn’t taste bad, in fact it was tasteless. Could be worse.

He took his time to make it last. By the time he was finished the already lukewarm dish had gone cold. He shivered.

Working all day long in the mine had at least provided him with some warmth from the exercise. But now, sitting here, his face and hands felt frozen. He didn’t even have gloves or a hat for protection.

He wondered if he was supposed to sleep here as well. That might be an uncomfortable night.

One of the guards approached. Jon looked up to him from his sitting position.

“I thought I was supposed to mine here for the rest of my life. I don’t think freezing to death on the first day is going to look good at the daily quota, isn’t it?”

He was exhausted, he was freezing, he was still hungry, and for once he didn’t care about diplomacy. How much worse could it get?

For a Klingon, the guard stayed surprisingly calm. He just growled then left. When he returned, he threw a bunch of fur on the ground next to Jon.

Surprised by this unexpected act of kindness, Jon picked one up. They felt soft and warm. He cuddled into it.

“Thanks,” he said softly. “Why are you helping me?”

“The Klingons you saved from the gas giant. One of them was my brother.”

He needn’t said more. Jon understood. Honor was a big thing with Klingons, that much had he learned already. It surely couldn’t hurt to have a protector here.

******************************************************************

Three days. For three days was Jon now here in this dilithium mine.

A part of him still held out hope for a rescue, but another part hoped that T’Pol had steered the ship far away from this place. He would not want anyone of his people fall into the hands of the Klingons in a failed attempt to free him. He would not be able to bear it.

He was trying to mine even more than his daily quota, so Kolos had not to do his full load. But it was exhausting. Swinging the pickax again and again had made his arms sore and heavy. His back also protested the unusual hard labor.

Pushing another heavy cart full of dilithium, he slipped and fell to the ground. For a while he just lay there, trying to get his breath back.

He wasn’t getting up quick enough for one of the guard’s liking. Suddenly a Klingon was there, prodding him with his pain stick.

“Arrrgggghhh!!!”

Acting on instinct, Jon swung his legs into the air and threw the guard backwards.

Then both jumped up.

In hindsight, it might have not been his best idea to start a fight with this guy, but Jon had enough of being pushed around. Time to fight back. He managed to land a few blows to the guy’s chin but then the other man gained the upper hand.

Jon was thrown to the ground, and a hand was closing around his neck.

Dark spots started to dance at the edge of his vision. It became difficult to breathe.

Suddenly his protector was there, pulling the other guy off. “You’re killing him! Let him go!”

Jon found that he was able to breathe again. He gulped in huge amounts of air, then scrambled backwards and raised himself to a half-sitting position.

He had just gone back to work when new prisoners arrived.

One of them was Malcolm. With a way out of here.

Jon’s heart was swelling so much that he was afraid it would burst. He hadn’t been forgotten. He hadn’t been left behind.

He couldn’t wait to leave this place as quickly as possible.

To his surprise, Kolos did not want to come along. He rather wanted to serve his time and then go back and make a difference. Jon had to accept that. Nothing he said would change his mind.

He took Kolos to the side and pointed out the friendly guard.

“Tell him you’re a friend of mine. He will protect you. He owes me one.”

Kolos nodded.

They hugged good-bye and Jon turned around. Without a look back he left this inhospitable place.

The End

Leave it to the marketing department to come up with Battle Ravaged and Battle Scarred. "No no, it'll be great, the completists will buy both of them, guaranteed!" Of course, you get them all because your stories demand meticulous detail!

I'm far from being the only one doing pictures with figures though.
I wish you'd been here back in the day when I was writing fanfiction - I would have asked you to illustrate my stories. Your action figures and details are great.

If I see a Stormtrooper with an ice cream cone, that's my kind of guy!
Do you know the stop-motion work of Shinohara Kenta? He posted a short on Twitter where Darth Vader plays fetch with an Imperial Walker. Here's a YouTube making-of he put up, with the finished product at the end. Amazing talent.

I'm collecting all sorts of calendar photos for this. I've never been there but would love to visit!
John Ford directed several films there starring John Wayne. Also you might want to check out Canyon de Chelly and Zion National Monument. Breathtaking natural wonders that I have had the pleasure of visiting.

Last weekend I was busy with making a wedding cake out of tube lids!
Nice! "Which name did you choose?" "We haven't decided yet." BWAHAHAHA Chakotay will cave. Poor guy, he has it bad for her. Congratulations, Mr. Janeway.

And this is what I did when I came to the Enterprise episode "Judgment".
Well done! I love missing scenes. And the Klingon repaying the debt, nice touch. *applause*

So trip likes his pizza the way he likes his alien babes? Hot & thick? LOL

Also, I think the Ferengi have sewn-up the market of 'intergalactic space-mush'.
"Serve your prisoners! Serve your friends! Space-mush! Its practically food!" :p

Of course, and I fall for it every time ;)
It goes on with the "Wrath of Khan" Kirk. You can get it in the red uniform with closed flap, with opened flap - and with opened flap with a blood stain right on the white.
Which was actually the very first Kirk I had of this line and so in a "normal" picture I digitally removed the blood stain...

He's officially called "Double Cross Admiral Kirk"

https://wixiban.com/images/artasylum/twok1-kirk-dx.jpg

It's easy money, with just a little repaint. Often they also use the same legs or jackets for different figures and so they end up all in the same height.
Which is why those Enterprise figures are really impressive - the details like the folds are different on each, and Jon is definitely larger than Malcolm!

I'm actually not inton Star Wars so I don't follow that fandom but that's quite impressive. I've tried my hands on stop motion once, it is a lot of work and we only managed like three seconds of movie.
What you need are figures that don't fall over while they have a leg in the air (when running), and it is difficult to manage that. So that Imperial walker with four legs certainly was better suitable for that!

Nice! "Which name did you choose?" "We haven't decided yet." BWAHAHAHA Chakotay will cave. Poor guy, he has it bad for her. Congratulations, Mr. Janeway.
Mr. Janeway ROFL

Well done! I love missing scenes. And the Klingon repaying the debt, nice touch. *applause*
Thank you! Like Orville and Voyager before, Enterprise is so inspiring! You often want to explore what happens after an episode ended, or a missing scene. I've written quite a few in the short time that I am watching the show now.

So Trip likes his pizza the way he likes his alien babes? Hot & thick? LOL
Something like that ;)
Wait, does that mean Jon likes his pizza green?

Also, I think the Ferengi have sewn-up the market of 'intergalactic space-mush'.
"Serve your prisoners! Serve your friends! Space-mush! Its practically food!" :p

Hahaha I can hear it!
Have the Ferengi expanded to the Stargate universe? Because that's where I noticed it first!

I realized I forgot to post the pictures with Jon doing sports. Technically the treadmill belongs to the "Night in sickbay" ones.
I do have bad memories of taking these pictures. I had gotten a second blue uniform Archer and then looked at him and the one that came with the captain's chair, to decide which one to repaint as desert uniform. Since the new Archer had the better blue in the rubber (in some old figures it's darker than the painted blue) I decided to keep him and repaint the original captain's chair Archer.

And then I wanted to sit him on the bike. Didn't go well. See, captain's chair Archer, when you bend his legs into a sitting position, they give an audible noise of being set. The other Archer does not have that. His legs feel loose and it is very difficult to keep him sitting for long, as they always snap back.
I asked a friend, apparently they are all like that. I am so gutted! I never thought to check, I thought they are all the same! I should have repainted this one instead, since desert Archer can't sit anyway as his pants would crack ;)

And these were actually the very first pictures I did with my very first Archer.
Just randomly combining him with other figures I have. The 4,5" Voyager figures are fun and cute, but I am happy to be back to 7". It's the size I started with and where I have the most figures and most accessories. Crossover, baby!

He's officially called "Double Cross Admiral Kirk"
I love these names they come up with. "No no, that's not Double Cross Admiral Kirk! The flap is open, but there's no blood on it! Are you blind?!"

Thank you! Like Orville and Voyager before, Enterprise is so inspiring! You often want to explore what happens after an episode ended, or a missing scene. I've written quite a few in the short time that I am watching the show now.
Yes, TV's limits create tons of opportunities for missing scenes, backstory, speculation, alternate universes. Fun!

I asked a friend, apparently they are all like that. I am so gutted! I never thought to check, I thought they are all the same!
No doubt the collective wail of all dedicated action-figure collectors/storytellers when they realize the toy people want you to buy ALL of them. Why else would they make four versions of Kirk for one movie? :shifty:

Crossover, baby!
Any action figure collection that includes Star Trek, dinosaurs, Doc Brown, AND Mulder & Scully is okay in my book. :techman:

No doubt the collective wail of all dedicated action-figure collectors/storytellers when they realize the toy people want you to buy ALL of them. Why else would they make four versions of Kirk for one movie? :shifty:
You think that was all? There is also Kirk in his jacket, and now THAT's a real nice figure! He's called Regula I Kirk (not my picture):

As you can see, there is an alternate version that comes with his mouth open yelling "Khaaaaan!"
I don't own that one, it is very rare and expensive these days.
But I do have the left one, I have so many nice figures but rarely do anything with them. Maybe next winter he could go out into the snow... If we get snow, that is.

Any action figure collection that includes Star Trek, dinosaurs, Doc Brown, AND Mulder & Scully is okay in my book. :techman:

I started out with Stargate SG-1. That was my first sci-fi fandom and also first action figures. Originally I only wanted one Jack... Last time I counted, I had over 200 from various fandoms. There is also Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sherlock, Gotham, Arrow... some Terminators... The dinosaur is from the Jurassic Park collection. Again I love how you can play with it - the mouth opens and closes, you can add or remove the "collar" or what it is called, and you can add something in his mouth as if he is spewing.

The Dennis Nedry figure from this movie scene comes with a normal head and with one with a pained expression that is full of green slime ;) Maybe he and Archer could meet... Let me think!

That the Doctor Who descent pod from The Satan Pit?
Indeed it is! I love it. Again, I have so many cool items which just sit in their boxes, so I try to get them out once in a while. It's a bit small since it is for 5" figures.

The next set of pictures is not a particular story, but I want to post it out of completion.

Sometimes I do introduction pictures. I had gotten a new crutch (again from Wrestling figures) and showed off the others in different sizes I have.
That leg in cast is also from Wrestling figures (as is the neck bandage) - the leg opens and you can put it around any leg, way cool!

But then Archer refused to use the bed pan... We found another use for it!

And a friend on Twitter was ill on her birthday and asked for someone to do her dishes. So I made these. And yes, I used real soapy water in here! Since I play on my kitchen table anyway, the way from the sink to the play area is not long.

The black baking sheet Jon is holding was obviously inspired by these pictures of Scott Bakula, Brent Spiner and Michael Dorn doing the dishes in Patrick Stewart's house:

Also, check out this video, I have a vaccumer, dishwasher and washing machine, all with light and sound, so cute!
