Ashes to Ashes BBC One Tonight

On a not really related topic it was nice to see Ida from Dr Who's The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit.

oh that's who it was... I was trying to work out where I knew her from.

Yeah, I like the way they fitted the guy up.

I'm a little confused as to why her BF from the future looks exactly the same age in the past though.

and why does every one of Alex's outfits make her look like the girl from flashdance?

The guy isn't her BF from the future but her daughter's Godfather. If you rewatch the opening sequence you'll see he is supposed to have a streak of white hair on the side.

Yes, it didn't work for me either, but the prop department did at least try.

Strangely, I thought he was her father up until then.

Anyhoo, best episode of the season so far... the "case" was good, the mystery was there but didn't take up too much of the episode and the characters were actually likeable.

Well it appears to have lost another 300,000 viewers.

From Digital Spy
Ashes to Ashes' audience continued to fall from the series opener's 7m to gain 5.8m (24.4%) for BBC One last night. It is also firmly lower than the average of 6.5m (25.5%) for the first series of Life On Mars, but remained 800,000 above last year's slot performance.

I assume there will be a second series?

Well in a recent interview Phil Glenister and Keeley Hawes said it ends in such a way as it is possible, and they hope to get one. But I don't think there's been any confirmation.
Then again, I don't think they confirmed Spooks series 7, and that started filming last week.

Well, I mean... a non ending would kind of piss me off, to be honest...
Here's hoping that they or the BBC know what they're doing.

Funnily enough given the way he reacted when Alex mentioned her younger self, then either he IS actually her father, or else he has some very disturbing feelings for the little Alex.

They are doing series 7 of spooks? Fan-Tastic!

I'm temeped to ask cast details but not sure I want to know!

As for Ashes to Ashes getting a second series...well I like it, but really, can the concept be stretched any further?

Personally I think the next series should involve Gene Hunt being run over by a Sinclair C-5 and when he wakes up it's 2075 and he actually is on Mars...

In all seriousness if they do do another series then they could come up with worse ideas!

I've not seen any cast details about, but from what I read it's going to be 8 single stories and 1 two parter, but I may have read that wrong, it could have been 8 episodes, including a two parter.

Just read this.

Philip Glenister, who plays Gene Hunt has stated in an interview that the series will run for at least two series. He added that he does not think any show featuring his character should be made afterwards

Or maybe in 2011 you would have a 24 year old new recruit getting rundown/shot/crushed, then have him wake up in 1994.

Well, I'm really enjoying it, far more than I did LOM, to be honest. I tried really really hard to love LOM, then just to like it, but I just didn't. I'm not sure why. This I really do enjoy. I don't know if it's the different approach or what, but I can really get into Ashes. I really like Drake, too, which is unusual for me as me and tv gals don't often see eye to eye!

Well, that explains it then - they should have let the makeup department have a go at it! Seriously, yeah, the supposed "old age" makeup on the character didn't work for me either - I've seen better old age makeup in community theatre productions.

I thought the old age make up was terrible, too. In fact I thought it was so terrible it alerted me to the fact that he would turn up as a younger version of himself at some point.
