Indifferent, I'm not sure why it was needed other than to appease a handful of nerds that can't get over the fact that this show isn't about the Big E

Let's be real here, the Enterprise cameo came out of nowhere and was desperately used as a cliffhanger to create buzz for the series. In it's execution, it was definitely the most desperate example of fanservice I've seen on Trek.
More so than 'Admiral McCoy'? More so than Trials and Tribbleations or Flashback? More so than TATV? More so than the 'augment virus' nonsense or Surak's katra playing jump-the-skull? More so than Mudd showing up on DSC?
This was a starship, with a personal connection to two people on board the Discovery, which we already knew was out there in this timeframe, appearing on screen for a few seconds. It is a long way from 'the most desperate example of fanservice' Trek's ever done.

Satisfied with the season as a whole? Yes I thinj it was above average and it cemented my hopes that season two will be even better.

Satisfied with the finale? No, super weak, didn't make a ton of sense character-wise, rushed.... overall I didn't feel it was very good, in fact I think it was the weakest episode of the whole seaso which is sad cause I thought the 7 or 8 leading up to it were top notch

The thread is about the Enterprise.

Ah yes. Shows that had much more respect for the spirit of Trek and the source material than STD does. Good times.

And the Spock example was definitely earned, they literally spent an episode setting him up before he appeared at the end.

Fan service is only bad when DISCO does it...of course:rolleyes:

I wonder how many casual watchers were confused that it didn't look like the Enterprise from the Kelvin movies.

It’s not the Enterprise we want, it’s the Enterprise we deserve. She’ll do.

I thought it was great. But I never had my shorts in a bunch about the JJPrise.

Watching it reminded me of seeing TMP in the theater. At first I was, oh, it's different. and then I was, well, it makes sense that it would. It's completely consistent with what the E is in our dreams.

Now let's see the inside. That's when the shit is really going to hit the fan.

WE KNOW NOTHING about it. Don't tell me that how it looks is important; it's not; it's the story that matters.

I have a suspicion they have no clue at all yet; they'll gauge opinions. + same is true for who is Captain.

They started writing Season 2 in December.

Awesome update that preserves the TOS look! Sure, the pylons are angled a-la-TMP, but every so subtly. Also, the neck is a bit shorter, but frankly that makes it look better. I guess now there are only 76 decks. :)

Now we'll all have to wait a year to see what the bridge looks like!
