I decided to watch "Night" and is it just me or is that line really out of character?

I just couldn't imagine Janeway asking that question in season two, let alone five. Chakotay has already captained a ship and in the past he's made his abilities clear.

Actually, I agree with this. Which, to my way of thinking means she wasn't a 100 % committed to this idea, and was hoping "someone" would stop her.

In season 3 she was gonna fly the ship into a star... Just saying... Janeway = reckless and she was depressed in that episode ie the death wish and being slightly irrational...
Night is one of my favorites for
1: the bridge "stand off"
2: the little insight we get into her character thanks to Tuvok...
3: brings back the whole does Janeway feel guilty about her decision deal
4: It's time to take out the garbage
