Are You a Fan of The Big Bang Theory?

I think Kaley is a brilliant comic actress. Her timing and performances are pretty much perfect, IMHO.

Here's a clip from the original, unaired pilot, with another actress in the role of "Katie." I don't know about you, but I certainly think that this scene would play a lot better with Cuoco.

You're missing the point of my post. Cuoco is good as Penny [nobody has said otherwise] and she is cute and funny. But the role isn't a challenging one. The 'sarcastic, sexy love interest' role isn't a stretch. Just because one actress [in your video] couldn't pull it off doesn't mean a million other young, female actresses couldn't have.

Whereas a role like Sheldon takes a greater talent to play and there is certainly a smaller group of actors capable of pulling that off.

I didn't start watching the show until several seasons in, just because I have little TV-viewing time. Even today I mostly catch reruns.

My parents, on the other hand, are devotees, and constantly pestered me to watch it. I caught a four-episode minithon, then called them up to ask them which of the guys I reminded them of.

Their answer was "all of them." Which unfortunately is kinda true. (fortunately, I long ago ended my brief flirtation with Howardish behavior.)

This is a little off topic, but if you're a fan of the Big Bang Theory, you will like it. I work for a property insurance company and we cover sinkhole damage. We once had a team of geologists (PhD types) come in and give us a lecture of on sinkholes, how they work and such. At the end, during the Q&A, I straight up asked if they if they felt offended by the way Sheldon always bags on geology (my manager nearly choked). The woman leading the lecture said that they actually like the show and find the "denigration" funny, and that geology is a serious science with real world applications and even bad PR is till PR. So if you've ever wondered, geologists do exist.

I think Helberg and Nayyar do a great job as Howard and Raj. Neither character would work in the hands of lesser actors. Howard is a character that walks a fine line. With a different actor the character could be totally unlikable and unredeemable.

I'm a fan, but will admit that the show is running out of gas. Lorre should bring the show to an end next season, before it really starts to go downhill, but he won't, of course, there is still too much $$$ to be bled out of it.

The one character that I always thought was miscast was Johnny Galecki, and his Leonard has almost zero onscreen chemistry with Penny, that relationship never seemed even remotely believable to me.

Which is kind of funny, since they dated for a couple of years in real life.
