I guess in the end the only way to know for sure is to ask Jonathon Frakes. He has all the good inside info on EVERTHING with Trek and Discovery. He's our Huggy Bear. Part of the Trek machine but will snitch on them to we the fans and let us know some juicy inside info we don't know about.

I never went there until today. They're selecting from a pool of people that are still watching and paying for the show after over a season and they have a funky rating system where it uses emoticons instead of numbers. What about the people that gave up on the show already?

Other rating systems with a large number of votes like imbd give it "7.4/10 - ‎59,042 votes". The youtube posting of the season 2 opener (best episode of season 2 so far in my opinion) gives 5k thumbs up and 3.3k thumbs down, that's 56% thumbs up.

Again... as was posted above, certain Youtubers have coordinated efforts to downvote Discovery things and rate it 1/10 on IMDB. They obviously haven't hit TV Time yet. Also, 187000 people is more than IMDB and the thumbs up and down on Youtube combined. Yes, they use an "emotion" rating system but the average is weighted better than just taking the average of numbers. Check out other shows on TV Time. It's not easy to get a series average of 9/10.

Anyway, this is just ridiculous to argue about since the facts say Discovery is a success. Why else give Kurtzman a 5 year deal to develop more Star Trek series?

Ignoring that the first "inside source" reeks of Doug Fitz's "facts," what makes this more valid than actual people involved in the production who are proud of the season as a whole? Why haven't other entertainment news sources picked up on these insiders' stories? This is something Variety or even Deadline would KILL for. Why go to a YouTuber? If you follow this through to a logical conclusion, it just doesn't add up.

The second one seems more logical and I can buy that no decision has been made on season 3.

CBS recently canceled a series called "One Dollar"

"While One Dollar won’t be coming back for another season, we're incredibly proud of its artistically presented 10-episode story, which will continue to be available for streaming on the service and for future audiences to discover," she said. "We thank the tremendous creative team, Craig Zobel, Matt DeRoss, Alexandre Dauman, Graham Gordy and Jason Mosberg, and the wonderful cast for their hard work and dedication to this series, as well as our viewers for following One Dollar's journey."

One Dollar was created by Jason Mosberg. It starred John Carroll Lynch, Philip Ettinger and Nathanield Martello-White. It was picked up straight to series by CBS All Access last August, and premiered at the end of the month.

The show got mixed reviews with critics, though the fans seemed to like it. On Rotten Tomatoes, it had an average rating of 78 percent out of nine professional reviews, and a 94 percent amongst audience members. This means that, in all likelihood, it was a lack of viewers that doomed the show.

Pride + decent ratings + all streaming series = show canceled anyway

Ok so let's look at One Dollar's stats on TV TIme: 6.78/10 average series rating compared to Discovery 9.02/10. One Dollar has 2,930 people tracking the show while Discovery has 187,814. There's no comparison.

Why would CBS All Access cancel Discovery, their most popular show? As I explained a month ago on the Future of Trek forum, they won't cancel it. Shows are cancelled based on the performance of other shows on the same network. Discovery compared to Game of Thrones doesn't really matter. Discovery compared to The Good Fight, One Dollar, Tell Me A Story, and whatever other shows they have on CBS All Access does matter.

I agree they have a agenda but I wouldn't call it coordination. More likely inspired to see other liked minded types doing what they like doing but those other people are also their competion for clicks. How much planning goes into this I don't know and how much they actually even care is also unknown because many people it seems will sell their souls for just a few more clicks. Most of them have sponsors so they make money off all the ranting and basically giving their target audience what it wants to hear which often can even be fans of the show being bashed because people do like to get angry at people getting angry at things they care about. I know I use to do that back in the day with FoxNews. Still sometimes fall for clickbait I shouldn't but I I don't do it as much as I use to.

Never heard of it. Sure I’m not the only one.

Regardless, your “proof” suggests that Bad Robot paid for reshoots. Why would they do that? Particularly when they have had no involvement in the show previously? If CBS was really THAT disappointed in Disco, why wouldn’t they just release it with little fanfare like this One Dollar show? Yet I see ads all over the place for Disco. They seem to have faith that they’re willing to put money into the advertising.

Does Bad Robot really have nothing better to do with their time and money than completely destroy Star Trek? I mean, it’s not like they don’t have two television series that are currently running (Castle Rock and Westworld), three in development (Demimonde, Lovecraft Country and The Wrong Mans) and a pretty big film coming out at the end of this year in Episode IX. Sure, they have enough time and money to destroy Star Trek. Why not?

I agree with @MakeshiftPython . You are really grasping at straws to try to push this false rumor.

It's a false comparison. "One Dollar" is not Star Trek by any stretch of the imagination.

No matter what, DSC is continuing on and CBS has demonstrated a willingness to invest money in to it, from advertising, to casting and extending Kurtzman's contract. CBS keeps putting money in to this. How is that an indication of pending cancellation? No, seriously? Where is the logic in this argument?

Clearly it’s a conspiracy to save face. Waste a lot of money just to look like you’re making a profit.

Why can't more companies be this frivolous with their money? CBS is clearly on to something.

I mean, what about Bad Robot? They aren't even involved in Disco and they're apparently spending money to do reshoots just because... um... hang on, I'll get there.... uhhhhhh..... reasons? Yeah, we'll go with reasons.

Ah, you're missing the best part of the conspiracy theory.

You see, it has been a Bad Robot project from the beginning. It was made under the Paramount/Bad Robot licence, which is why everything looks different - it's not Prime Universe, and it even has to be 25% different in tone as part of the contract.

[I have actually had someone make this argument to me - it's downright frightening]
