By having a reason for not watching it.

Choosing not to watch a show is fine. And it validates their opinion as long as they watch the show. Any episodes that air after that point, they really lose the right to comment on.

I've got no problem with people not enjoying a show and commenting on it (even though I question the logic of watching something you don't enjoy). But after that point? I don't understand how you can have an informed opinion outside of: "I chose to stop watching because I didn't enjoy the way it was going."

I ran into the rumor first on youtube then I see it was brought up in the threads here on Monday and Wednesday.
Is that really an elephant in the room then? I saw the comments regarding Mount's tweets and that's about it.

These rumors cycle all the time. I'm not holding my breath on their veracity.

I don't like Harley Davidsons, but I am a motorcyclist, daily rider, and I like forums. I should join a Harley forum and post about how awful they are and this rumor I heard that the company is going toes up.

There was also these alleged inside sources quoted from the nerd youtube user:

Nerdrotic also indicates he has spoken to two insiders. One of the insiders told him that the show is undergoing reshoots, but CBS is not paying for it. His insider explains that J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot is paying for the reshoots. And the reason CBS isn’t paying is because the second season is allegedly costing updwards of $150 million. The insider would definitely declare that Star Trek: Discovery is “dead.”

However, Nerdrotic’s second source indicates that a decision has not been made regarding whether or not CBS will renew Star Trek: Discovery for a third season.

That's all I've been able to find out about it so far.

Ignoring that the first "inside source" reeks of Doug Fitz's "facts," what makes this more valid than actual people involved in the production who are proud of the season as a whole? Why haven't other entertainment news sources picked up on these insiders' stories? This is something Variety or even Deadline would KILL for. Why go to a YouTuber? If you follow this through to a logical conclusion, it just doesn't add up.

The second one seems more logical and I can buy that no decision has been made on season 3.

I don't know the point of keeping this thread open anymore unless there are more substantial rumors that come out.

YouTubers are not the frontline of investigative journalism, even when it comes to entertainment. Even if the YouTube "Brother" comments or stats on YouTube aren't all glowing, it's because the fanbase was watching it on CBS All Access, not YouTube, so having people wander into the DSC storyline after season 1 isn't necessarily the best idea, just so they can complain how it looks different or feels different than what they're used to. TNG looked very different from TOS, and so what? And incorporating new technology or new ideas has always met resistance, but that just comes with the territory if you're looking to do more than a clone of what's gone before.

I hope they don't cancel it. Would love to see the numbers of paying subs that cbs attributes strictly to this show.

Overall I am still down on this not being on CBS or Netflix but it is what it is.

Ah, the "Discovery is a secret Bad Robot production" conspiracy theory is my favourite.

Of course CBS would licence out their flagship show, despite having the rights to make it themselves, and Bad Robot would happily go totally uncredited despite the show's profile and their supposed heavy financial investment.

I will answer the question without going off the deep end as no one else seems able to.

Even the mods.

No news about renewal yet but that is not unusual as its too early in the season for this kind of talk, CBS are going to want to test out different options with the audience and then move forward with what works alongside Discovery.

They definitely wont drop Discovery until they have a couple of replacements ready to air in its place which gives Discovery time to establish itself properly, the first two episodes were a great start to season 2, I haven't seen the 3rd episode yet but hope to watch it over the weekend.

We shall have to see how the new Klingons are handled, not to mention S31 and the return of MU Georgiou, they will no doubt be watching closely to see the audience reaction.

I will be surprised if we don't see a Pike/Enterprise show sooner rather than later.
