Don't believe morons on YouTube. They make money from your views, pander to obsessive haters, and tell them whatever they want to hear.
They aren't making any money from me. Adblock. No ads. No money.
But that nerdrotic guy is pretty stupid. I've seen his videos a few times and he continues bashing the Discovery even now when first two episodes seemed much better than S1. I hated S1, but S2 so far was much better but he continues spitting on it.

The Picard one seems to be a mini-series and they wouldn’t air them all at once, they’ll likely space them out over the year to keep people subscribed year round. Given that subscription numbers are higher when Discovery is on, I doubt it’s in any danger of cancellation.

I’ll never get the desire to see a show end out of spite.

Same with me.

But Picard doesn't appear to be a mini series but a full show like Discovery, from all what i have read so far.

I've seen a bunch of cancellation rumors flying around about this show that spark from a tweet from Anson Mount https://twitter.com/ansonmount/status/1089410129080967170 .

The rumor is analyzed here:

I think it makes sense that it would be cancelled because of the section 31 series and Picard series. I find it highly unlikely that they would have 3 running star trek series at once.

Sometimes I think the only way we can communicate with those who put too much stock in YouTube videos is by posting YouTube videos. Therefore,

I mostly ignored the rumor until it dawned on me that there's 2 other series in the works and not likely to have 3 at once.

You realize CBS wants Star Trek fans to subscribe all year long? It absolutely makes sense to have three series in production at once, as that covers thirty to forty weeks.

Plus they spent money to expand the studio in Toronto, and extend Kurtzman. Usually not something a corporation does if a product is failing.

Patrick Stewart said in a recent interview that it is "like a ten-hour movie".

Sometimes that means it will be a limited series, with only one ten-hour story to be told, but sometimes if it's popular enough they'll do another season and tell another story. Then another.

Here's the link to Sir Patrick's interview:

Thank you. I've read it now. But didn't Kurtzman and others talk about having stuff for many seasons.

Maybe Patrick only meant what he said in the interview only in relation to season 1.

To me this feels like a really dumb theory. Those tweets to me just says that Pike and Spock won't be back in season 3 which I think everyone already expects. I don't think people expect Pike and Spock to be around for the long haul no matter how long that happens to be.

Maybe, but if neither the producers nor Stewart have committed to additional seasons because they both want to wait to see how this show turns out. Stewart might be wise to wait before signing a contract to do more seasons if he feels the first season might be popular enough to command more money for additional seasons (assuming his current contract is only for one season without the production company holding options for others).

Why is this even a thread? Nobody should be posting Youtube videos from these idiots.

Marsh pulls this sort of thing all the time - bring up some obscure theory that one or a handful of idiots on the web supports and then play it as "just raising discussion" while not actually listening to rational counterarguments because that's not actually his motive for doing it.

I agree.

I think maybe at best we get Mount/Pike in the 3rd season for just half the season, especially if he is popular enough with the fans to pull the fans into that 3rd season (and, so far, I think he is popular enough for that). They might use that popularity to bridge between this season and whatever "hook the fans" plan they have next season. Peck/Spock might continue to be sprinkled in a few episodes next season, maybe for the same reason.

Ultimately, I agree that most likely the showrunners of Discovery do not plan to move forward with this being a show "about Pike and Spock". Therefore, I don't expect Mount and Peck to remain as regular cast members for season 3 and beyond.

EDIT TO ADD:
What if Jason Isaacs would have tweeted after filming last year that he was no longer employed by Star Trek? Would that have meant the show was cancelled?

But, but, Midnghts Edge said Dicovery was cancelled halfway through S1.

We all know now from Youtube that Netflix pulled its funding and that All Access is a failure.

CBS had to put the first episode of S2 on youtube for free because the Orville is crapping all over STD.

Most importantly none of this would have happened if they had just employed Alec Peters to make Axanar instead.

Where's my cup of Kharn roast god damnit.

They put it on YouTube so people could sample it and subscribe BECAUSE they were confident about it.:brickwall:

Guys, we have to stop making logical sense. So, give up all of your possessions. Give all your money to Alec Peters. Cancel your CBSAA subscription. And let's stop putting any faith in the mainstream media who have made careers out of actually doing journalism. The only truths in this world that are important are on YouTube. So let's listen to them and them alone!

To be fair, I doubt anyone with the word "nerd" in their alias is stupid.

I didn't see anyone else making a thread about it. I figured someone had to address the elephant in the room. Might as well be me.

okay but it's safe to say that a higher percentage of people outside of this website do not care for STD whereas a large percentage of people here do. Confirmation bias works both ways there.

Usually the things I post are my own thoughts and questions. This ones just something I've noticed. Star Trek has never had 3 running series at once. Plus I did not care for yesterday's discovery so it got me thinking that maybe that rumor is more than a rumor. I don't have a big steak in this one though, if it's true it's true and if it's false it's false. I was just curious if the rumor was true or if anyone heard anything.

Based on what? I don't know how many times I have to post this: https://www.tvtime.com/en/show/328711

That site has over 187k people tracking Discovery and it's rated 9.02/10 (an average rating of all of the episode ratings). Show me a site that has more people than that giving Discovery a low average rating.

Because 1) most people know it is complete bullshit. 2) There is no elephant

That isn't actually safe to say. NEW fans are watching

Wondering if you can actually be that coy or you were hoping to spread the fake news

Based on what exactly? YouTube?

People enjoy something. People don't. I'm fine with admitting that. But I'm also not going to suggest that something is an absolute success just because I love it. I don't know if I will continue to love the series. Last night's episode wasn't great. I can admit that. I don't know if it will get a season three but at this point, I'm hopeful and there's evidence from people involved in the production that suggest its a good possibility but not absolutely confirmed. However, when there are people who are playing Chicken Little suggesting the sky is falling because of a misunderstood tweet from Anson Mount which he stepped back, and creating entire YouTube videos about how the show has failed because they don't like it, who is showing confirmation bias at that point?

Confirmation bias works both ways there.

No one suggested it didn't.

EDITED: Added some actual links. Figured its important to show my work if I'm going to criticize others for not doing the same.

How many episodes had been aired before They announced that Season 2 was a go last year?

I don't think we're there yet.

How about we wait for that same number this year, before we go all apeshit and start assisting in the spreading of stupidass rumors.
