I had to look him up, but yes. I can see how that would happen.
I'm not the first person to note the similarities.

I think it's because looking at his imdb I don't think I've seen Bradley in anything really before this so I just go to what I know.

I only gave this episode 7/10. I am not scared of spiders, in fact I actually like them, so I did not find this episode even slightly scary.

Two solid episodes in Sheffield. And plenty of reasons to go back for more. Thinking maybe, if we all close our eyes, and screw up our faces really tight, and wish really hard. The Doctor Who Experience will open again in Sheffield.

Fingers crossed.

In a show whose premise travels the entire universe in any time range, why does everyone want it to stay on Earth in the modern day only?

It was...fine.

The resolution seemed awfully quick and I’ll echo the other commenters when I say that the Trump-lite character was dull as dishwater. The ep was saved by Tea At Yas’s!(tm) and the continuing excellent work of Graham and Ryan learning to live without the nexus that kept their lives together.

The Doctor continues to be fantastic and I’m totally onboard with this incarnation. The kinder, gentler Doctor is a welcome change from 12. In fact, the Doctor seems to be trying to live up to 12’s final pleas to always be kind, something he almost always failed to do, even when he was trying.

As a middling avaerage episode of Doctor Who, I’ll take it any day of the week over stuff like Curse of the Black Pearl or Dinosaurs on a Spaceship.

That was my biggest complaint about the Davies era (that and lovey-dovey Rose...). They didn't visit an alien world (not counting human colonies) until "The Impossible Planet" and they didn't visit one with a civilization until "Planet of the Ood," and even then, with plenty of humans around in both cases (I'm not counting "Utopia" because that was a human refuge).

One thing I found interesting about this episode is that it is one of the few new-era Doctor Who episodes I can think of with absolutely no aliens or alien influences in it. No aliens, no alien technology, no alien artifacts causing havoc, etc.
Thirteen's tenure is shaping up to be much more like Classic Who than any of the series up 'til now.

I've been thinking the same thing, especially in this episode. This stood out to me towards the end of the episode when there were a bunch of people who didn't know each other, including a clear antagonist (but not an outright villain), following The Doctor's lead.

Again, enjoyable episode, with good characterization, terrific lens use, direction, acting, music, but so-so plot. I am usually terrified of spiders in real life, but I wasn't scared of them here exactly, so I'm not sure what to say to that. Anyway.

Yeah, that stood out to me as well. That doesn't need to happen often (in fact, it shouldn't), but I'm glad that it does happen occasionally. Hopefully, Chibnall will keep in mind that kind of story during his tenure.

I felt the ending was a little rushed in terms of solving everything and just like in the Ghost Monument, the douchebag in the episode just leaves abruptly???

I'm wondering if some of these folks are set to return in later episodes?

That's exactly what I was wondering.

But wasn’t everyone mortified by the mere rumour of his involvement back when we knew nothing? I’m beginning to think we should put more trust in our showrunners to get it right,

I wasn't worried. He was fine as Danny Baldwin in Coronation Street and good in Law & Order: UK, too. Chibnall doesn't always come up with the best plotting, but he's usually pretty damn good at casting, Broadchurch being a prime example. And it was great seeing Shobna Gulati (Najia) on screen again, since I don't think I've seen her in anything since she quit Corrie. (Too bad the character's name is spelled that way; my sister Nadja's daughter would have gotten a kick out of seeing someone with her mother's name in Doctor Who.)

The title was enough to not watch. A vote of Rubbish from me.

Everyone's entitled to an informed opinion. Feel free to come back and provide one.

Overall, a little weak on story again, but I'm loving Jodie, the supporting cast, the music, and the look of the show. This is shaping up to be one of my favourite seasons in some time.
