Anything on Sela? [Minor Spoilers]

I do, it's called The TNG Relaunch - My Version (the actual title is Bloodfire)

Okay. I'll check it out.

So...as to my earlier question? Which of my stories do y'all wanna see first?

In fact the one that went on sale this week...
In the US, I've got to wait another month :(

You don't! In the US, it's out - it's the Brit readers who won't see it till about 12 November. (Cue the usual queries about this!)
Paul. read my post directly after yours. I'm in the UK, you're saying it's out this week...I'm continuing that sentence with "in the US" and then clarifying that I have to wait another month.

Well, no. If that was your intent, you should have written:

It's not Paul's fault that he read your comma as a comma instead of a period.

mea culpa. I'll be more precise in the future.

I think that's a question best left to the fanfic forum. :)

Fair enough.:)

I've just put up the first few scenes of my Excelsior tale. It's called "Buccaneer Logic".

It a fun tale--and frankly, I had a lot of fun writing it! Enjoy!

Sela, to me, was always a wonderful rich character with so much to work with. However, she was used as a Snidely Whiplash villain, always scheming and failing and coming back for more with little done to explore her character and motivations. I address this in a piece coming in a future issue of Star Trek Magazine.

Sort of the Wile E. Coyote of the Trek universe? ;)

"Commander Sela...suuuuuuuuuper genius!"

Me? I'm working steadily as News Editor over at ComicMix, hence the improved Trek coverage. In addition, I have numerous outlines with editors and have finally started writing an original Iron Man novel for DelRey, due out in summer 2009.

But, Bill, I'm an editor. Aren't we meant to have godlike powers of divining what people mean rather than what they say...? (I'll stop now or Marco'll accuse me of nicking his lines again!!)

Yes...yes you are. But my grammar-radar was on the fritz that day, mea culpa.

I had wondered about the question what has become of Sela myself.

Before Nemesis hit the cinemas we had a game going in which she was a very powerful, cunning and intersting reoccuring villian. I always liked the torn nature of the character and the background.

I was deeply disappointed on multiple levels with Nemesis, that Sela wasn't part of it was a minor complaint.

That Sela didn't feature in any of the newer Trek books (that I had read) was another disappointment to me as well. I have only just heard (by reading this thread) that she appears in Death in Winter.

A cunning and plotting character like her should have felt right at home in the chaos that engulfed the Romulan Star Empire after the coup and then fall of Preator Shinzon.

In my personal experiences (from mastering roleplaying sessions) Sela is a very useful and interesting character.

One more question: I have not read any of the multiple Mirror Universe novels. Are there any books featuring a mirror version of Sela?

^^I doubt Sela would exist in the Mirror Universe, since Mirror Tasha Yar would be in no position to go back in time 22 years, not to mention that the Battle of Narendra III wouldn't have happened anyway (at least not with an Enterprise-C).

Yes, Sela wouldn't come to be in the same way as our Sela, Tasha going back and time and such. But an interested author might come up with a decent storyline explaining why Tasha Yar would hit it off with a Romulan and produce an offspring to be read about by us, wouldn't he? :)

I also dislike Sela. On the other hand, the Trek writers have managed to salvage a lot out of other bad things like Nemesis for example. I'm sure somebody could do something interesting with her.

On Tom Riker, wow I had assumed that somebody had already done something with him and I had just missed it. Yeah, that thread needs to be picked up. It isn't really possible considering his situation, but I think it would be amusing to see him on Titan.

To the best of my knowledge, Tom Riker was last seen in Cardassian custody. Though, this was well before the Dominion War, so who knows what his status is post-WYLB.

Doesn't he get sprung in Imzadi II: Triangle? Admittedly, it's been years since I read it, so my recall is not reliable...

Tom Riker has been given multiple incompatible fates in novels, short stories, and comics. There's no definitive account of what became of him.
