Hmm... something that two people get on together... I know! They're going to dress up in a horse costume for Halloween!

I think IDW's lead-in comic for the new Star Trek film will find Sela going back in time with Nero. Though their ship will be destroyed in the ensuing climactic battle, Sela will survive and go on in the alternative timeline to spawn many more decedents, who will also look like Denise Crosby, who will show up in all manner of crazy unexpected places.
Late thought...would Tom be a viable Section 31 candidate?
What is it with Alaskans and secession?Late thought...would Tom be a viable Section 31 candidate?
Not at all.
Section 31's thing is Federation nationalism. These are people who believe, "My country, right or wrong," and in fact don't even care about right or wrong. It's "Federation: Period." Their guiding rule is what is best for the Federation.... which usually happens to also mean what is best for them, but to their delusional minds, it's about what's best for the UFP.
Tom Riker, on the other hand, was a member of the Maquis -- a separatist group that literally wanted to secede from the Federation and form their own government.
Equating Tom Riker with Section 31 would be like equating a Confederate soldier with a Bush Republican.

I've got no problem with Tom Riker. Heck, I think it might've been cool if, in "Second Chances," they'd gone ahead with their idea to kill off Will Riker and have Tom take over at ops, with Data becoming first officer.

There are racists among all parties. But neither party is racist, and both have a lot of good, accepting people even if you don't agree with all of their political stands.

And Sela's final stop on her tour through time is Turkana IV, where she hooks up with a human man and gives birth to Tasha Yar, thus completing the circle. Come on, you have to be able to get at least a trilogy out of a character who is her own grandmother. That's pathos, man!
I guess I'm the only person who loves Sela. Or maybe I'm just a sucker for a pointy-eared blond in a Romulan uniform.![]()
So much Sela hate.

I don't think Sci meant "Confederate soldier" to mean "racist," but "secessionist." The analogy was between Confederate and Maquis on the one hand and between Section 31 and the Bush administration on the other hand. The former are secessionists, the latter are secretive, manipulative groups that use patriotism as an excuse for their actions.
To each their own. I've always loved those Romulan uniforms. Yes, I even love that wig.I don't see that. Romulan haircuts and uniforms are just so damn unflattering. How sexy can someone be with a mop on her head and a quilt wrapped around her torso?I guess I'm the only person who loves Sela. *whew* I'm glad I'm not the only!Nope. I'm a Sela lover, and proud of it!! Personally, I think Denise Crosby looks better as a Romulan anyway. So much Sela hate.
