Anyone still build models?

it must have been rare here as well.

I don't have any of the programs any more but remember they were a lot of fun. They ran under XP and when you opened it up there were a number of options such as a model viewer and a kind of racing game where you drove the model. But it was the assembly part that got me because for the time around 2000ish it seemed like something from the future when you could move and rotate each model part and it showed you exactly how they would work on the actual model, even told you parts not to glue.

I'm showing my age here but who remembers the software pack made by Expert Software and Revell models that contained a model kit and a PC program that functioned as 3D instructions for the model in the set?

They did a few different models such as cars and planes
You're worried about aging yourself talking about old PC programs, and I was already in my late 20s before PCs were even a thing. ;)

Since my USS Venture took a crash dive off the shelf a few years ago, I've been wanting to redo it and update it a bit in 1/350. God knows how long this is going to take, because I'm not smart with lighting, and I'm making up the way it'll go together as I go. I really hope this won't take more than a couple of months. Mounting the nacelles firmly will be the real challenge. Here's a progress pic.

The rec area/arboretum lying on the saucer will be visible thru those big windows behind the B/C deck. That's a Green Strawberry impulse deck, which mounts to the aft top of the secondary hull. Hopefully all the wiring will fit thru the 3/8 brass tube it'll be mounted on. Right now I'm not sure if I'll used a 12V adapter, or a bunch of 9V battery packs.

Oy.

Where the hell will I put this thing??
