I've never been a huge fan of Blalock but when I look at that picture of her I feel like I feel when I climb the rope in gym class.

WHAT? WHEN??? Is Kira's uniform in seasons 3-6 of DS9 considered a catsuit? Whatever it is, I love it. Much better than that clunky thing with the big shoulders that she wore in the first season.

That was her regular uniform which she first wore in season five.
Cool, I'll have to take a closer look. When she started wearing grey like everyone else, I assumed it was with pants like the rest of the cast.
I didn't mind T'Pol's usually. Seven's could be bad, especially when they were hideous colors like magenta. You only get to wear skintight magenta if your name is Erik Lensherr and you command metal, all right?
Kira's uniform strangely actually should have been modified one way or the other. It should've either been much looser or a bit tighter. As it stood it made her look heavier than she was.
Skintight clothing on women shouldn't really bother anyone, though. I mean, I could walk outside tomorrow and in half an hour see fifty women in skintight jeans.

I realize, none better, that I am a woman which no doubts affects my opinion, but nonetheless, I assure you all that a woman can look sexy and professional at the same time, and I don't understand why TPTB couldn't just admit that and move on.
That said, the catsuits didn't bother me nearly as much - they were in one or two ways practical, I guess - as those ridiculous high heels they put Seven in. Another regular has told me, and she might very well be correct, that most of the Trek woman wore high heels since they are very flattering to the female figure. But for most of the other characters, these were camouflaged, whereas Seven's were spiked out there for everybody to see. I don't care about that - I'm not talking about foot health here, I'm talking about how professional people ought to look.
I am addicted to high heels myself (I would be ashamed to tell you how many pairs I have), but (1) my job is primarily a desk job and (2) on days when I have to spend a lot of time on my feet, I don't wear my 3- or 4-inch heels.
I don't know what the future will hold in terms of space travel, energy sources and aliens to be encountered, but I am confident that, unless we all mutate so that our feet our shaped like a Barbie doll's, at no time in the future will people who clamber around on ladders, go on away missions, and stand at computer stations all day wear 4-inch heels. It's just not going to happen.

On the other hand, it's rather impossible to imagine what kind of attire will be considered professional in the 24th century. Just take a look at the costumes that were considered professional in the 16th. They'd still be considered professional today, but only if the profession was "clown."

Okay, this is kind of off-topic, but Kate brought it up...I've never understood why women wear high heels. Now I don't know from experience because I've never worn them myself, but they've always looked very uncomfortable to me. I always thought the main reason they exist is because some guys (not me) find them sexy. But what practical purpose does it serve to wear shoes that bend and elevate your feet like that?
I've always presumed it's to raise the head a few inches above the actual height, since women are shorter than men. It may also have something to do with pushing the apparent bustline out an inch or so.

I think Troi and Seven of Nine both looked better in standard uniforms.I'm sorry to break it to you, but I think you might just be in the majority on that one.
