I seee, hmmmmm... well it was bound to happen sooner or later. In the 60s the Enterprise Bridge may have been futuristic but by todays stadards its pretty basic. This movie wouln't work if they didnt have things seem 'futuristic', so I guess the push buttons and knobs had to go.

Well its clearly different from the 60's bridge (not that anyone ever claimed they were going to replicate either it or the ship in a copy and paste way...) so I guess that's riled them up.

Though if you look closely its also decidedly not Next Generation like either.

Well of course it's hard to tell what the lighting is going to be like in the movie, but at least from the colors and clean design, I get the sense the bridge is going to have a very high tech and "modern" kind of feel to it. Almost like something Apple would design.

It doesn't look dark and gritty to me at all, that's for sure.

It seems that according to Robert Orci in the recent Q&A session over at Trekmovie.com that the 60's style trek "never happened that way" approach has been taken with ST:XI (or Star Trek Zero or just plain Star Trek). The designs apparently represent an obvious transition between ENT and TMP.

I suppose the purists may now run screaming from the forums.

Well thats the problem of recreating the same type of thing 40 years apart. The purists will always have their DVDs and memories, that will never change.
