Anybody know what's going on with PSN?

Thing about gamesaves being corrupt, it might be that because gamesaves are timestamped they are not actually corrupt but are are not boing seen by the PS3 because the internal clock is buggered,...I have been seeing report from people who have dissembled their PS3, removed the internal battery, reset the clock and everything works again fine including gamesave.

Fingers crossed that's its true though.

^^^You do realise you just jinxed yourself....

I was thinking the same thing. Because just a couple of weeks ago, me and friend were talking about my PS3 and how it didn't even really get warm during a 6 hour marathon session of MW2. He described it as being "built like a tank."

I'm thinking my tank just got a Hellfire missle up it's arse.

Certainly the god of claymore camping on MW2 could be exacting revenge on some.

And if so and it starts to affect the slim I'm noob tubed big time.:eek:

LOL, well if that's true, my 360 will be going RROD soon.

Yeah, I just logged onto my phat PS3 and it's giving me the date as Dec. 31 and the time as 3:23 p.m.!

But the slim PS3 works just fine.

Its getting serious, people are putting pants(trousers) on...

^^^I assume your not going to switch your PS3 on when you get home, i would take Sony's official advice and leave it off till the fix appears, no point in taking chances i think at this stage.
The gambler in me wants to fire it up but yeah, you're probably right. I was just going to use it to watch some videos anyway but I can do that on my computer or Xbox anyway.

PS3 Slims *not* safe from current PS3 problems

"The Gaming Vault has been receiving reports by emails since this morning from some owners of PS3 Slim consoles claiming that their machines are being affected by the issues plaguing PlayStation 3 console and PSN today.
We have also received at least one report from an owner of an older “fat” model of the PS3 claiming that his console has not been affected by this issue.
It was assumed today (and claimed by Sony) that this problem was relegated to older models of Sony’s console. This appears to not entirely be the case, and your chances are hit and miss if you choose to use the PlayStation Network this.
Sony themselves are in fact recommending that all PS3 owners do not go online with the console today, regardless of which model they own.
We’ll keep you updated."

And Sony warns not to connect to PSN with “any consumer units”

Like I said earlier, I'm not taking that chance.

That's a weird one, the initial sites in those links are claiming that Sony have stated "all PS3 are affected", but they link their source to info on the official PS3 sites which actually states "As mentioned above, please be advised that the new slim PS3 is not affected with this error. We are doing our best to resolve the issue and do apologize for any inconvenience caused".

???

Unfortunately it doesn't seem as though this bug is serious enough to effect any changes in industry trends and practices. What needs to happen is for a bug to be introduced that can't be fixed via further online updates, necessitating a total product recall and the subsequent collapse of the platform/publisher in question. Only then will folks learn. If this could happen without inconveniencing me in the process *cough* Microsoft *cough* I'd appreciate it.

Anything infected with DRM (i.e. PSN content) and games that synch trophies upon startup.

What games are affected? I manually corrected the date and time and could play.

That's interesting, because I've read other accounts of people saying that's NOT working for them. I've heard some speculation that this error might not plague a game that doesn't have trophy support. But I think this is all word of mouth via the internet and you know how that is.

EDIT TO ADD: Well Rii just beat me to it, so perhaps there is something to this trophy support rumor.

Wow, good job I didn't try and get a bit further on Valkyrie tonight. Hope this doesn't affect any save states and what not on my system but otherwise I've gotta say that while this is a bit annoying I'm not going to loose any sleep over it. I'm sure they'll have it fixed ina few days, till then, looks like I'm stuck on my P.C
