Any news from the NY Comic Con?

After three days on the show floor, I settled upon Three New Rules for New York Comic Con:

1. "Gold Bikini Leia" should not have junk in her trunk.

2. She also should not have ass pimples.

3. Any hot dog that costs $4.50 should cure baldness and cause erections.

^ Did they have Pretzel Dogs?

By the time San Diego Comic-con was done last year, I'd come away with the belief that Pretzel Dogs where the perfect food.

I have to say, David, that you still looked remarkably coherent by Sunday afternoon! It was a great pleasure meeting you and Christopher, and saying hi to Margaret again. Hopefully I will make it back down to Shore Leave one of these centuries....

Between the 'Orion slave girls', 'junk in her trunk' Leia, ass pimples and $4.50 'hot dog' erections, I see absolutely no value in attending something like this. Was there actually so little of value there that these are the highlights? Convince me it's worth the time and expense to go back to one, if it is.

You say all that like it's a bad thing...! Oh, wait...never mind....

Well, he could have been joking.

What, is there something in the water around here today?

And despite
Data appearing alive in IDW's comic books,
he's not coming back in the books, either.

^ As in, post Nemesis?

I'm not surprised, but TrekLit as a whole is still behind 'Countdown' by close to a decade. I am really interested in the comic's explanation for how Data is alive and still himself.

The answer must be, the entire story takes place in a different universe/timeline, one in which Data didn't die, Picard did.

The Classic Spock is also of "that" timeline/universe.

Well, during my book signing, I got to talk for several minutes with a cute Asian woman wearing cat ears and a tail, so as far as I'm concerned, that made it all worthwhile. :D

I don't remember seeing any Orion women or Leia bikinis, though. I missed a lot of stuff at the con. My bus was delayed and I missed the whole first day (I think I'm going to try driving to Shore Leave), and on Saturday I was still tired from the trip and things were hectic so I didn't get around to looking through the con guide to see what events were going on. Mostly I just hung around the Pocket booth. So I can't offer much about the highlights.

It's not my job to convince you to go to cons, or do anything else for that matter. Lighten up and learn to recognize jokes.

My apologies. I obviously misunderstood that "Any news from the NY Comic Con" was a private conversation consisting of insulting comments. I thought it was a public board, relating to the thread title, and I was, in fact, looking for "any news from the NY Comic Con."

Is there another, more appropriate thread in which I might find this information? So far, I got nothing.

Here's part of the second post in this thread:

^ Apparently nothing new was announced... not too surprising, since Margaret spilled a lot in her TrekMovie.com interview just a few weeks ago.

You got nothing because there is nothing to get. If there was any news, people would be discussing it.

Yeah, the timing of the convention was pretty bad for Pocket... there wasn't really anything new that Margaret was ready or able to announce. Just a few more days, and she could've announced the Alan Dean Foster novelization of the new Trek movie, but at the time, she wasn't cleared to say anything.

There also weren't enough copies of Over a Torrent Sea available to give the book a full debut at the con as we'd hoped we could. We only had nine copies to give out.

And in what language does "Convince me it's worth the time and expense to go to a future NY Comic Con" mean the same as "Was there any news from the just-past NY Comic Con"???

Again, my apologies. I did follow the newsarama link posted early in this thread, and was looking for more feedback from folks who were there. I'll just go google it.

He didn't say they were the highlights per se- he said the first two things shouldn't occur, and that hotdogs were overpriced. I'm sure more about the NY Comic con can be found, here, on the attendee's blogs, etc.

Looking back on it, it must have been very painful for her to have to withhold such major news. I did like her responses of "I'm sorry, Senator, I don't recall," on the panel, though...!

I got one! I'm finishing up Reap the Whirlwind right now, but I can't wait to delve into it, probably starting this weekend...

Wondercon in San Francisco is coming up. I've got a choice to make since I'm not going both days. Not sure which one I'm into more. The movie presentations usually aren't that great so I'm leaning towards the IDW thing.
