Any Love for Insurrection?

I just watched it this afternoon actually, haven't saw down and watched it in years.

My main thought was that Marina Sirtis looked lovely in this movie :)

And also I'd definitely now like to go with the theory that it takes place during What You Leave Behind, in that there was a bit of time between the end of the war and the signing of the treaty aboard the station. Even if there was a temporary ceasefire at some point during Season 7, it just seems stupid for Picard to be moaning about missing an archaeological dig while a huge intergalatic war was going on and core UFP worlds were been attacked invaded.

Also the some of the CGI of the Enterprise and Son'a ships really looks excellent.

One thing though, is it only on the planet they get exposed to the rays that make them feel a bit younger, or I presume they're still affected on the ship in the Briar Patch?
Just as you have the Enterprise entering the area, then it instantly cuts to Riker & Troi flirting and then the scene after that is Worf sleeping in. Like wow, they were all affected pretty fast!

"Oh...I know I can be eternally youthful and disease-free...but I'm too much of a selfish a$$hole to be bothered with the inconvenience of living in a troublesome region of space"
Especially inconvenient if what is going to make you "eternally youthful and disease-free" is capable of being bottled up and sent to your home or your local clinic.

You know, so you don't have to up-root your entire life and move to a distant planet just to receive treatment.

The following sums up my thoughts pretty well..

I liked it. Most of the Star Trek movies before Abrams were glorified Trek episodes. Sure I wish they were bigger and better but whatever. Insurrection was watchable and got better the more I watched it.

It's my least favorite TNG film and comes off like it's trying too hard to be funny. The whole "planet with the fountain of youth" thing was cheesy.

At the time, I found it a tad yukky, and a little embarrassing that it was a must-see movie for me, as my six house mates and partners, inadvertently spurred by my enthusiasm, shared my disappointment with me at their own expense. That was awkward evening, we could have gone to the pub.

Since then, I've mellowed a bit, and I can see what they were trying to do. The Baku lifestyle is one I'd give my right foot for, no two hour commutes on the M6 for those lucky Bs.

I enjoyed Insurrection. It was a light hearted story set between the drama and somewhat bloody First Contact and the end of days feel of Nemesis as crewmembers are farewelled or die. Here, despite the ongoing Dominion War (?), the crew of the Enterprise-E are willing to do what it takes to save the Federation from itself. The humor and the dialogue were what I felt uplifting because after First Contact where we lost so many redshirt characters - Hawk, Porter, Eiger, Lynch etc. - the fact that only two people died throughout the course of the film and the crew stood for what they wanted and learned from it.

I don't get what the problem is with the film. Each of them had their problems yes, but it didn't mean they aren't enjoyable to watch.
