Any Enterprise references?

Just wondering, I realize this is sort of a "remake", but does anyone know if there is going to be any mention of any events from Enterprise? Like, the Xindi incident or something? Or is this Star Trek going to have a different history then the one we grew up with?

I do remember one of the writers in an interview saying that the Enterprise series would be acknowledged in some way, but they did not provide the specifics.

The producers and writers said they would respect the continuity for anyone who's been a fan over the 40 years, but they intent to carve a new path.. so who knows.. I certainly hope so, but it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.

Based on what the writers have said in Q&A's, I expect there to be at least one subtle reference to Enterprise.

"Hat Rick" over at TrekMovie.com was present at the Starfleet Academy shoot the other day, and he says that one of the background images inside the library, where there were several photos/paintings of older spacecraft, included an image of a modified NX-01-type vessel.

So there may at least be tiny easter-egg-like references in the background. I have no idea whether there's anything more substantial than that.

There will be references to Enterprise.

IIRC, Kirk was considered rather bookish and he lacked a sense of humor. In addition, B&B wanted to show Archer as Kirk's boyhood. With these things in mind, I can imaging Cadet Kirk in an academy tactics class in which the professor brings up a battle that the NX-01 fought. When another cadet questions Archer's decisions, Kirk jumps to the captain's defense rather fervently and a bit overzealously, and he begins spouting accounts, facts, and figures. He doesn't stop until finally the professor shuts him up, commenting on the completeness of his answer. Other cadets roll their eyes or comment on what a nerd he is (or what ever the term for nerd is in that era). One classmate, a Vulcan/Human hybrid quietly observes, perhaps seeing that Kirk is like himself, an outcast. After class, Spock comments to Kirk that he was in fact right about Archer, and Kirk thanks him but eyes him cautiously. Later that day, Kirk sees some of the larger and crueler cadets picking on Spock who appears unphased. Kirk jumps in and the fight is on. Kirk knocks out several of them with roundhouse punches, karate chops, and drop kicks while Spock handles the rest quite effortlessly with the Vulcan nerve pinch. Of course, in the scuffle Kirk's shirt gets ripped right across the chest. Kirk, out of breath, makes a quick joke about how Spock isn't even winded. Spock raises his eyebrow in mock contempt, and the two walk away together and their road to friendship has begun.

Yep, Roberto Orci has said that there will be an "Enterprise" reference or two and "Hat Rick" reported seeing a painting of NX-01 used as set dressing.

And hey, since Archer is Kirk's childhood hero it just stands to reason.

Since Spock comes from the future it's even possible there will be a TNG or DS9 reference or two, but no one has indicated that to the best of my knowledge.

sounds like that's probably about all of Enterprise we will get unless they have Archer seeing the 1701 launch, then die the next day like some have suggested

I don't want references to anything. I like DS9 but do I want a DS9 reference? Hell no. Same goes for TNG, VGR, ENT, etc.

But I know they're probably going to do it anyway, so whatever.

We are just going to have to live with the fact that the people making Trek now don't appear to share either our interest in modern Trek and concern with the minutae thereof or to harbor our resentments and preferences. I don't recollect any of them saying that they've paid a whole lot of attention to Trek after TNG (maybe Orci has and I've missed it), and none of them seems to strongly prefer or dislike "Enterprise," "Voyager" or DS9.

In continuity terms, there's no difference at all between offhanded references to Archer or Cochrane or Surak - they're all a little strained, but for every fan who groans at the writers "reaching" to drop a name there are probably a few who enjoy that kind of thing- gods know the obsessive popularity of the "Star Trek Universe" doesn't consist of a lot more than that most of the time. References to the 24th century shows are obviously dicier because of the TOS-era setting of this one - if Kirk mentions the "Picard winery" I'll groan along with everybody else - but since part of the film evidently takes place near the end of Spock's life they may even work in one or two during those sequences.

I am totally unable to read this page thanks to the GIGANTIC image above. Could someone please reduce its size about 1010%? Sheesh.
