Any Enterprise references?

Maybe we'll hear a reference to Porthos rather than see him.

Bones: Dammit Jim, you need to find ways to relax! Lock yourself in your quarters and read a book or go for a walk on the campus. Maybe you need a pet. Have you ever thought about getting a dog?

Jim: A dog?!? Now there's a great idea! Bring a dog on a starship! Brilliant! Haven't you ever read about Archer's experience with man's best friend??

Bones: Riiight. The "Porthos Incident." Wasn't that the mission in which the dog impregnated the Naussican commander's wife and then crapped in his ceremonial fighting helmet? If I remember right, the only way Captain Archer could avert a war with that race was to disembowel the poor animal and then make him into a dish served to the Naussican Commander. Porthos Chilli, I believe. Nevermind. Read a book...

Actually if there is a Starfleet museum in orbit, it would only take one quick pass over it with the 1701 to show both the NX01 and Daedalus docked noticeably on large arms with several other older designs moored along with them.

Maybe even a Bonaventure of more consistent design to the original series or the one shown in the Ships of the Line calender series. Another of even older design of the Valiant type.

A few seconds, multiple references for us and to the casual viewer just lots of shiny old ships.

Just wondering, I realize this is sort of a "remake", but does anyone know if there is going to be any mention of any events from Enterprise? Like, the Xindi incident or something? Or is this Star Trek going to have a different history then the one we grew up with?

There is a scene where Kirk calls Spock into the bridge lavatory to show him the remnants in the bowl and says "Hey Spock, check out the size of the Archer I left in the bowl for you - beat that Vulcanoid!"

I'd expect no more references to anyone or thing from Enteprise in this movie than I would mentions of George Washington in a story about FDR or mentions of Captain Kirk in a TNG episode. (Well, they did kind of do the latter, didn't they?)

"The man was a menace!"

Wait... that's not right.

That's from DS9's "Trials and Tribble-ations." Wasn't there a mention of Kirk or at least the 1701 in TNG's "The Naked Now?" Then there's the "evasive maneuver: Kirk epsilon" line from NEM.

I knew I should have put the ;) in there.

There was.

From here:

RIKER: Captain, I believe we've got the answer to what happened over there.

PICARD: The Constitution class Enterprise, Captain James T. Kirk commanding...

RIKER: (indicates viewer)
Similar conditions. They were monitoring a planet that was breaking up, not a collapsing star as in this case, but there were
the same huge shifts in gravity...

PICARD: (peers closely)
... which somehow resulted in complex strings of water molecules which then acquired carbon from the body and acted on the brain like alcohol!

Mister Data, download that information immediately to medical.

DATA: Aye sir, downloading.
Then there's the "evasive maneuver: Kirk epsilon" line from NEM.
I haven't seen it yet, but I'll take your word for it.

I shouldn't have taken it so literally. As for the Kirk epsilon remark, Frakes as Riker delivered it uncharacteristically flatly. It had no impact at all on me. There was no sense of drama or urgency. One of the other problems I had with NEM was that there were times when music should have been playing to add to the mood but it wasn't. I remember a scene in which I actually thought, "Where's the soundtrack? There should be music playing." Moments later it began but it was poorly timed. It happened again later on more than once. The movie was a mere shadow of TNG in its heyday.
