Anson Mount: A Pike Show Would Require Creative Conversations

Mini series or movies really seems like the way to go with this. 8 months away from family and home can't be fun for the actor. CBS has had two amazing performances by captains now in Discovery and each one was knowingly vacated. Maybe they did not know what a hit both Isaacs and Mount would both be.

If I were at Universal watching my Star Trek movie franchise collect dust, I'd be waiting to call CBS execs and offer the peace pipe to get something going.

I still say they do a Pike show about his time on Talos. We don't need more Starship Enterprise adventures right now. GIve us something new!

Well, this really is the nail in the coffin for the idea that such a show is already in the works. Damn.

Today's episode

Script:

Pike: "Yawn.. oh.. Vina you're still here.. and green" looks at ceiling "Did you get some good footage, The Keeper? I'm thinking blue today. I'm so done with green"

Vina: snores and turns into an Andorian

The Keeper (echoes voice while low twangy guitar plays): How is that?

Pike: Primo. Hit it.

Since the Georgiou show is still in development, why not have Pike on the show too and sort of merge them. After all the had Section 31 mixing in with Discovery. Pike can have his adventures but section 31 would intertwine in with his mission somehow.

Certainly, there's an established cast to be fleshed out according to modern series requirements. I'd expect a mix of characters from the original proposal and pilot for TOS and new creations.

Your thread title is wholly inaccurate. "Creative Conversations" <> "Creative Changes". Basically, he feels they would need to flesh out the characters on the 1701 more and get an idea of the type of stories they can and would want to tell.

Thank you. and is the same thing any actor would want before signing on to be the lead on a show.

Nowhere in the article is the term "Creative Changes" even written.
Whooops. That was an honest mistake.
I didn't want to copy and paste the entire title so I condensed it.

Can a mod change it?

we'll see how tonight develops, but this interview stymied my suspicions that a pike show was already in the works.

My problem with this idea is that I have little to no interest in the Section 31 show and I don't want to have to be forced to watch it just to get more Pike & Enterprise stuff. :D

If they already plan to do some kind of a Pike project, then obviously everyone has been asked to deflect and keep quite about it.

But most likely there is nothing planned and they have plenty of other Trek projects to keep CBS AA happy for the next few years.

I got to be honest, I find it kind of surprising there's no plans for anything else involving the Enterprise or Pike, considering how much money they've sunk into it. The Enterprise bridge is reportedly the most expensive set built for the show yet, the Enterprise crew got their own uniforms which have only been seen a handful of times, they've done up a special picture of Ethan Peck shaved and in uniform, despite the fact we'll probably seem him like that on screen for a minute or so, a well-known actress was cast as Number One and barely used, and last week they even made it a plot point that Culber is transferring over to the Enterprise. If indeed Disco is staying in the future from here on, which does seem to be the case, all this is going to be cut off from any future Disco episodes. I guess they can recycle the bridge set as some other ship's bridge or even utilize it in the Section 31 show (assuming that is in the 23rd century) but it sure seems like they poured a lot of time and money into the Enterprise, both ship and crew just to abandon them after the season.
