Another Voyager 1st-time watch thread

I also prefer my food to be configured.

Actually, I'm not fussy, but I really wanted to utter that sentence - and not sure when I'll ever get another chance.

I dunno! LOL, must just be an acquired taste. I don't think you're missing much.

I'm struggling to find a way to say "I just love giant hunks of meat" without sounding crass, but it's proving difficult.

So: I just love giant hunks of slow-cooked meat.

My hubby doesn't like meat n' potatoes, either. He prefers stuff to be in some kind of... configuration. Like pasta or burgers or something.
I must be a simple man then.
I get excited over Meatloaf.

I make an awesome turkey meatloaf! I think I'll put it into next week's meal plan. :p

I don't come from a meatloaf eating family & I never made it myself, so it's become like a specail treat from me.

I definitely prefer pasta of some kind, or some kind of chicken dish.

I just had a funny idea. What if someone had a Voyager potluck, and everyone had to bring one dish that they made on the show? That would be fun.

Same here. Most of the stuff I cook now is very different from what I grew up with. I still love all those traditional foods, but I really like to explore the world of food options!

I will bring the chicken paprikash.

And I don't know what plomeek broth is supposed to taste like, but I always imagined it as miso soup for some reason.

I'll fix some hasperat. I actually do fix that a couple of times a year.

I did not know Neelix was vegetarian.
He's got no canine teeth, only flat nubs.
That's the sign of a species that's a herbivore.
It also explains why he knows so much about Leeola Root.

Plus, I think all the animal influences that make up his design are all herbivores too.
He's Pumba & Timone combined.

Interesting. Neelix's teeth have never been something I've wanted to take a close look at, so that tidbit had escaped my notice. ;)
Sorry, I'm fascinated by special EFX and make-up artistry, so I've studied his design very closely. I find the design for Neelix one of the most complex for a regular cast member. You can just see allot of work goes into getting Ethan Philips made up every time.

Hey, anyone want to buy a membership in the Federation? I can sell you one because I just saw...

"Live Fast and Prosper"

I love comedy episodes, and a comedy episode with a fake Voyager crew is a total can't-miss for me.

Fake Janeway was great, but Fake Tuvok really took the cake. I love how he got so deeply into the character of Tuvok that he tried to think as a Vulcan. And that look of absolute fanboy when he finally said "Commander Tuvok!" was priceless. Was this a subtle commentary on fandom? Maybe.

And Neelix and Tom getting conned was pretty funny, as was their soul-searching. And Ethan Phillips had a really, really good scene with Fake Janeway.

The double-con on the Fake Voyagers was fun--at first I didn't really know what was going on with Fake Janeway, but as soon as she got hit with the phaser, I knew it was the Doctor.

At this stage in Trek, I like these shows where they aren't taking the show quite as seriously, and are often providing a commentary on the show itself, better than a lot of the "regular" episodes.

I took a look at the season 6 episode list, and I find it interesting that the episodes I like tend to either be relatively light ("Virtuoso," "The Voyager Conspiracy," "Tinker Tenor Doctor Spy," or character studies ("Barge of the Dead," "Riddles"). I also like the slightly unusual action/exploration stories ("Blink of an Eye," "One Small Step"). That doesn't mean anything that I can figure out, but it's where I'm coming from. I really wonder what I would have thought 15 years ago. For example, when I first saw "Hollow Pursuits" as a teenager, I absolutely hated it and Barclay. Now it's one of my favorites.

If Fake Janeway hadn't tried to "escape," I wonder if Janeway would have let them stay on Voyager after they paid restitution. I can't see Fake Chakotay wanting to stay, but I definitely could see Fake Tuvok staying and becoming a foil for Tuvok to rival Neelix.

It's neat to think of an alternate Voyager that's an island of misfit toys, with various characters picked up along the way--Kashyk, Daniel Dae Kim's character from "Blink of an Eye," some of the Equinox crew, a Hirogen, you name it.

"Nice hair."

:guffaw::guffaw:

This episode was a real treat. It's one of my favorite's from the handful of season six episodes I like.

Plus it gave us Janeway in a bathrobe, having issues with the sonic shower.
