Another Lit Wish List Thread

Wasn't Gilmore killed in one of the novellas in Distant Shores? I seem to recall someone (I think it was Kirsten Beyer) once saying that they liked that ending for her and would keep it in mind when writing things regarding the Equinox crew.

:techman:A Enterprise story collection for Enterprise's anniversary is something I really hoped this would happen since in 2011 all the other series got story anthologies this series deserved to have it's own book for it's tenth aniverasary it's a shame it didn't happen. I still would like to see a story anthlogy for Enterprise someday.

How about a series of Starship Exeter novels based on the semi-retired fan production?

Only retitle it Star Trek - Exeter.

- an annual Myriad Universes Book
- regular releases of New Frontier
- a Aventine story moving the 24th century along
- David Mack's trilogy for next year to feature crews from other ships (Aventine, Robinson) than just the Enterprise-E.
- More Vanguard

Honestly, I just want Kirsten, David Mack, Christopher, and DRG3 to write whatever the hell they feel like writing for as long as they're willing to. Our current crop of writers kicks ass.

Agreed. I'd through KRAD, Wardimore, and William Leisner into that too.

But time travel didn't render TOS obsolete, they say right in the movie that it is simply a parallel universe.

God, I'm really starting to wonder if people even listen to the dialogue in movies anymore.
I'm really starting to wonder if you read my post:p

If Spock and Nero going back and changing history created an alternate timeline (nitpicky: the word "parallel" isn't actually used in the movie but it is in the novelization), Admiral Janeway's going back and changing history did too. And so also concurrently exists is the timeline from "Yesterday's Enterprise" and every other version of history visited in any Trek ever along with infinite others. According to the multiverse theory, timelines aren't destroyed, only new ones created (and "created" is a very loose term, since there are universes for every possible outcome of every event, anywhere, ever)

M'kay?
Oh, I read you post. I think I might have just mistood you, I thought you were saying that the new movie wiped out TOS. And I would also really enjoy seeing something about Voyager's pre-Admiral Janeway time trip journey home. IMO that would be the perfect topic for a Myriad Universes story.

Guys, check out Christopher's annotations on his website for Watching The Clock. He explains parallel timelines (well, perpendicular, but I won't get into that) quite well therein, and it adds a lot of flavor to that aspect of the book.

If I may:

5. Publish Slings & Arrows in TPB.

6. A Starfleet Medical starship ebook series that I would not buy until it hit TPB. :D

Make all Star Trek books eBooks only until you buy a Reader (not Kindle) and buy Star Trek eBooks. I think that would do.

My wish is simple...more annotations by the authors. I love reading the novels and after I have finished pouring over the annotations. Chris' are a constant source of wonder, as his level of research is fantastic.

This is something that I just thought of and it might have already been mentioned but I would absolutely love to read a fictional autobiography of James T. Kirk. I believe that it was mentioned in one of the shows (possibly TNG) that he wrote one (I think called Risk is Our Business). It would be awesome if Greg Cox, Christopher, or PAD took this on or pitched it if it were something they were interested in.

Why "only"? Why can't the rest of us keep reading our boring, old-fashioned "dead tree" books? And people who like ebooks can read things the newfangled way.

Something for everybody . . . .

I agree Greg there should be Startrek books available for everyone to read not just books only available on e-readers. alot of people still like to buy old fashioned printed books and buy them. I still want to see Sling and Arrows printed as a treade paperback.

I agree. New technology is evil. Well, some of it, anyhow.

And I just like "dead tree" books.

Well, I wouldn't go that fair. :)

I'm sure ebooks are great, but I'm not sure why anyone would want to limit any books to any one format. Books are books. Who cares if they're printed on paper and displayed on some new gizmo?

Yeah. Ideally you want books to be available in as many formats as possible. We've got hardcovers, mass-market paperbacks, trade paperbacks, book club editions, and audiobooks; now e-books have been added to that wide mix. It makes no sense to want to diminish the number of formats in which literature is available. That would just hurt publishing and deprive people of choice. When it comes to preference for one format or another, that's simply a matter of individual taste. It's ridiculous and self-centered to say that a format shouldn't exist just because it isn't your personal preference.

I was kidding guys. Stop taking everything so seriously. Seeing the funny side makes life in general, and the day in particular, easier to survive.

Except for the part about preferring "dead tree" books. I was serious about that.

Oh, I realize you were being tongue-in-cheek. I was mostly just trying to stress that there's room enough for all formats.
