Anime for Q1 2010

omegaone

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
Hi guys with the Anime I'm currently watching half done or finnishing for the season any ideas on what to watch for the early new year? ( I like good sci fi mecha / action / mystery / Alter reality type stuff and Fantasy(and yes the ever long Bleach :rommie: and excellent FMA)

For me it's Tokimeki Memorial 4 and Halo Legends. the rest seems pretty much like the usual school/fantasy stuff that's been done to death (and then some).

Really, other than season three of Nodame, there isn't much there that interests me. Maybe if word of mouth of something gets out, I'll give it a look.

I'm still catching up with summer and fall. Just finished Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. It was excellent.

I'm also interested in the season three of Shana after the letdown of season two. One was announced and they had that one-off OVA about a month ago, but I don't know much after that.

I'm going to have to agree that this upcoming season looks more barren than the tundra but I did manage to find 4:
Dance in the Vampire Bund (looks like Elfen Lied level violence with vampires)
Okamikakushi-Hidden God (By the creator of Higurashi and Umeneko)
Katanagatari (By the author of Bakemonogatari)
Omamori Himari (No excuse to watch this other than catgirls :p)

Also Toaru Kageku no Railgun (I'm only guessing on this one), Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and Inu Yasha: The Final Act will continue into next season. I'm also following several OVA series that are still going such as Denpa Teki na Kanojo, Hellsing Ultimate, Aika Zero, the Utawarerumono OVA, and Negima: Mahou Hitsu no Sekai.

In addition, we should also see these in 2010 at some point:
Black Lagoon OVA
Cencoroll (movie)
Eden of the East: King of Eden (movie)
Eden of the East: Paradise Lost (movie)
Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works (movie)
Gurren Lagann: Ragan-hen (movie)
Ikki Tousen: EXtreme Executor (series or OVA)
King of Thorn (movie)
Lyrical Nanoha: 1st (movie)
Macross Frontier: Itsuwari no Utahime (movie)
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (movie)
Redline (movie)
Sekirei: Pure Engagement (series)
Summer Wars (movie)
Trigun: Badlands Rumble (movie)
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzimiya (movie)

Probabally a passable Japanese/English pronunciation for it. :techman:

Utawarerumono is a great fantasy/action title about a masked man who goes from amnesiac patient to reluctant emperor of an entire nation when he is compelled to lead a group of peasants in insurrection against a corrupt government. The series is quite epic and well made with impressive action scenes, the OVA thus far has been just side stories.

As to why you can't finish Code Geass R2 on Netflix it's probably because it's not all released yet. Only the first 2 of 4 volumes are out thus far.

Cenceroll and Summer Wars have come "out" in a manner of speaking. Haven't watched either yet though.

So has King of Thorn and Redline but film festivals don't count because none of them are ever near me, and there's no DVD release yet so you can't buy them and nobody can rip the film off the disc either so we can't even get decent fansubs. If I can't buy it or torrent it, it might as well not exist. It also might as well not exist if it's some dude's shaky cam 'corder video with people's heads in the way and bad audio too. :(

You usually have to wait 6 months to a year after their theatrical release in order to finally see anime films in one form or another. For instance the final Kara no Kyoukai film was released theatrically in June but didn't come out until last week on DVD so the fansubs only started showing up yesterday. It was one of the shorter waits.

Without breaking any rules, Summer Wars was released in Korea... and there is a fandub. It's out there if you want to grab it, although I've heard the quality ain't great. I know I saw Cencoroll around as well.

That's okay. It really starts to suck towards the end.

It basically turns into a wannabe Gundam with less mecha porn.

Speaking of Code Geass there's more of that coming as well, though I don't know when exactly, but it was announced recently.

yeah but its gonna follow CC in the past, with 2 new dudes. Bah, I wanted more set in the current universe. I want to see what Loyalty & his Loli are up to at the farm. :shifty:

Yeah, I heard that as well. I don't know what as the story came to a full resolution.

I suppose they could expand on the events of the last five episode--since the whole was so rushed.

Or I suppose tell the story of C2 in a different era or something like that.

Outlaw Star is back in circulation, if you haven't seen it, it's worth the $35.99, if you can find it The Irresponsible Captain Tylor is worth the purchase, The Slayers is also in circulation, too
