Anime for Q1 2010

Yeah. I see that dude take so much flak because apparently his characters "don't look different enough". I never pay that much attention to character design though, personally, unless they stand out because they're so ugly.

Sort of off topic, but an OVA called "TO" was released recently (based on a light novel series called 2001 Nights, apparently). It's an interesting hard SF story and at least the first episode reminded me a lot of Planetes. Just when I feel like I'm burning out, there's something that draws me back in.

Also finished Toshokan Sensou. A shoujo action SF series? Brilliant. In a way, it reminded me of the give and take in the last season of Full Metal Panic.

I'll have to check that one out then. Also, yeah, Toshkan Sensou aka Library War was one of those great series that nobody knows about.

Fafner is not something I expected to see a sequel from. I'll take it I guess though. Sometimes I think I'm the only person that watched it, let alone watched it and liked it. I'm not a huge fan of it but it was entertaining if a bit depressing.
Don't feel bad, I watched it too :p

But anyways, as most of you know I'm a tad (like a whole season actually....) behind on anime right now so I'm concentrating on finishing up the fall stuff before I hit the Q1 2010 stuff

Heh I enjoyed fafner so yahs not the only ones :), just found out about TO as well gonna check it out over the weekend.

Yeah, if you like hard SF and Planetes, TO is definitely up your alley.

And I'm not sure why I waited so long to watch Toshokan Sensou, but I'm glad I did. I'm almost excited over the fact that Viz is doing the localization of the shoujo version of the manga.

Planetes is one of my favorite series actually.

There was another one that came out around the same time as Library Wars called Yakushiji Ryoko no Kaiki Jikenbo, better known as Ryoko's Case Files, which was also an excellent series that nobody seems to have watched. I'd recomend that if you're looking for something good to fill some time. I'll go ahead and plug Kurenai and Kemonozume as long as I'm throwing out names of little known unlicensed things.

Can't help it but I'm one of those guys who are still hoping there'll be another season of Full Metal Panic at some point.
And a Gundam show that hasn't been watered down until it's barely recognizable as one wouldn't be bad either.

I know I've seen Planetes, but I don't actually remember seeing it. I just did a Wikipedia and, while it sounded familiar, I couldn't place it.

I have seen RCF. It's one of my lady friend's favorites. I thought it had a lot of potential and could've been longer. (I don't say that about a lot of short series.)

I've heard of RCF but haven't watched it. The keywords for Kurenai are just hilarious though. loli incest.

Luckily, that's not what the show is about it's just
The reason why Murasaki wants to escape her screwed up family and why she needs a bodyguard.
It's a slice of life comedy and drama with some sparse but pretty cool action. It does have one of the most misleading opening sequences I've ever seen though. When you see this you would never think that the shows artstyle actually looks like this. :wtf::lol:

Definitely with you on this one  With continuations of Haruhi and Evangelion in the works, the only one of my top 3 that needs some more stuff is FMP. I keep on holding out hope since the novels are now finished but with each passing year it seems less likely. Oh wells, if Fafner can get a continuation half a decade later who says the same cant happen with FMP :D

I thought TO was a good little anthology series, a little slow but interesting and liked part 2 better.

I would love more as well, but it seems Kyoto is more interested in making moe anime like Clannad and K-ON at the moment rather than trying to adapt the remaining FMP novels. :(

I'll second that recommendation. Very entertaining series with a great (and hot) lead. Needs very elastic suspension of disbelief though.

What Genshiken REALLLY needs is another OVA. The final (and best) volume of the manga never made it into Genshiken 2 :(
