well, with a sketch driven show (which I assume this will still be), a single writer not being very good isn't as big of a problem. If that clip is representative of the quality of the show, it should be pretty good, although we won't know until the show comes out.

Why wouldn't an Animaniacs revival be a sketch-dricven show? The original was. Why reinvent the wheel?

That is a shame that they didn't bring any of the original creative team back, especially since Ruegger wants to come back. I wonder if they did that on purpose, or just didn't think to approach them?

There is sometimes logic to a clean creative break, fresh blood and the like, but whether it's a good idea in any particular case is less clear. It's mostly only clear in hindsight.

Also, the 2019 animated movie Justice League vs. the Fatal Five was essentially set in the DC Animated Universe, reuniting its cast and reusing its designs and musical themes, though apparently there isn't complete agreement on whether it's actually canonical.

In all honesty, I'd really doubt a Batman TAS revival could live up to the old show. I mean, even with the show itself, the second season wasn't as good as the first, and The New Batman Adventures was another step down. Bringing Paul Dini back would probably ensure good writing, but another problem for me would be the animation. Part of what made the first season episodes so fantastic was that they were still experimenting with what was possible. Later on, even as Bruce Timm described it, they had figured out the most efficient way to animate, but it also lacked the ambition of the earlier episodes. With todays animation, even looking at the Animaniacs reboot, it looks fine, but not as brilliant as the original show, so there's no way they'd go with more classic animation techniques as they did for the early episodes.

If you're willing to read comics, the series Christopher linked to is the way to go. And it has been excellent so far. Picks up where the series left off, and plays with a bunch of toys the comics only developed later. Azrael/Knightfall Batman (though without Knightfall to go with it), Jason Todd. Also features a story with Deathstroke. I thought their adaptation of the Todd/Red Hood story was interesting, given that they change almost every element of the origins involved, but still come away with a recognizable rendition of both versions of the character.
