An X-Men question

Psylent1

Captain
Captain
I have been away from X-Men comics for a while, but the current storyline caught my attention, but who is the guy in the White Suit and what are his powers?

If you're referring to the scientist who wears a fedora, that's Dr. Nemesis, a Golden Age character who was recently brought back into the comics. His only real superpower, I believe, is longevity (he's over 100); his main gimmick is his arsenal of gadgets.

^Even the original Human Torch and Toro are back. There is even going to be an Invaders mini coming out set entirely in the modern era with all of the original members!

The companies have to bring old characters back every now and then in order to keep the copyright fresh.

I know I'm going to regret asking this, but...
isn't the original human torch now the Vision?
John Byrne retconned that in the 80s as part of his revision of Vision's history (and also so that he could bring back the Original Torch). Kurt Busiek then did one of his patented continuity fixes in the late 1990s to explain how both were true. So, yes.

Friggin Byrne.... how can someone who brought me so much joy in FF every month be the same guy who totally screwed up Superman for all time?
(yes, I know I'm in the tiny minority on that one).

But they could do this just as easily by telling new stories set in the characters original era. As it is, it's getting ridiculous how many WW2 (both classic and modern) characters are still running around in their prime. I don't know if DC is as bad, but Marvel has...

Captain America
Bucky
Original Torch
Toro
Namor
ETA: Red Skull
Original Vision
Spitfire
Nick Fury
Dum-Dum Dugan
Gabe Jones
Black Widow
Wolverine

...and that's right off the top of my head. I know I'm forgetting a metric tons worth. Not that I don't like these characters, and I do, but it begins to strain credibility after a while. At least characters like Reed Richards, Ben Grimm and Doctor Doom have had WW2 largely ret-conned out of their origins.

Has the Golden age Vision been seen recently? I would love to see a team up between the golden age and the current Vision.

He's been appearing in Alex Ross and Jim Krueger's string of projects recently (Avengers/Invaders, The Torch) and will be in their upcoming Invaders mini:

there was a golden age vision??

Yep, he was a strange visitor from another dimension. In the modern era, he made a cameo appearance at the end of the first Kree-Skrull war (which is how I first found out about him).

So what's the current status of modern Vision anyway? Last I recall, he had been rebuilt as a teenage Young Avenger?

It's not "him" on the Young Avengers, strictly speaking. The Silver Age Vision was blown up in "Avengers Disassembled", and his remains are still in a warehouse somewhere; the Modern Age Vision on the Young Avengers was made using a copy of the earlier version's software, but his brain is based on Iron Lad/Young Kang, not Wonder Man, so they're in practice very different (though the most obvious distinction would be that one liked Wanda, and the other likes Cassie).

Thanks for the recap. I remembered there was a teen version, but was fuzzy on the details.

Oh fuck me. Why do they keep raping my adolescence?

To appeal to today's adolescents? Who will no doubt complain when the character gets revamped again for their kids. :)

I'm pretty sure they showed Vision in Avenger#1 when Steve Rogers is recruiting members he says "At your command" or something like that. By the way we need a running thread for Avengers Volume Four as I thought it was epic...especially the cliffhanger ending.
