An Enterprise

It's beautiful. Great lines and colors. I'm not so sure about the drop shadow on the registry numbers, but I'll admit the numbers look interesting like that in white.

What did you build this in?

Lightwave. I still default to one of the oldest Modelers, but rendered in 10.1.

The drop shadow is something I've wanted to see for a long time - I used it in texturing a non-Trek model designed by Vektor, Polaris - I always figure, if you're going to use the block lettering style that the U.S. Navy and others use on their ships, why not go all the way with the treatment? :D

I am passionately hating that white, shadowed lettering:lol:

The rest looks nice, but maybe a little too true to the original 60's Enterprise. I love the spines down the connecting dorsal. Something like that could look awesome beefing up the nacelle pylons.

The spine comes from the Kelvin, as does much else.

Of course, I wanted to be reasonably true to the proportions and much of the detail of the 60s Enterprise. That's what I like best. The Kelvin seems particularly well-suited to that. It suggests a vessel that's got some decades on it and has been a bit beaten around.

And this is exactly what my target is for the hull markings:

:D

A really cool take on the design, one of the best redesigns I've seen.

Personally I'm not a fan of the lettering but I understand why you put it. :)
